Exactly this. If we, as fans, get too excited over that glorious beatdown of the Crocs, then we could very well be responsible for derailing the entire season. Do you want to be responsible for that? I certainly don’t.

Yep, it's a thin line to walk as fans. Too negative, and recruits won't come. Too positive, and we could cause the team to lose. :snoopfacepalm:

My biggest worry with "letdowns" is with Mario. Had us ready to play the opener this year and last. Not so much G'Tech and MTSU. It's there for the taking, if he can keep things moving. Our depth may help this some, as there are young hungry guys looking for time.

I don’t think any of us will ever forget the great days, but, also the agony of 20 plus years of being irrelevant. Where Florida and FSU now stand we once stood.
 
I was friends with a Golden Hurricane back when we were great. He had perfect seats midway up on the 50 yard line BUT he spent most of his time in the walkway since he was so intense about our performance. Ironic that was when we had the 58 game streak for winning in the Orange Bowl so he missed some great moments. His tailgates were great. Hopefully in Heaven he won't be so tense. :rolleyes:

Herbstreit said it best on McAfee today. Miami took it to FL with no Shenagins or fake swag. They played tough and ****ed. Anxious to see them as they keep getting noticed and patted on the back how they respond.
I agree and they looked different. All business and they seem like the team that will continue that mindset but we are all human. This is especially where Mario’s mentality will help.
 
Anyone remember Thad Frankin? He is there running back and Daniel Richardson their QB played his hs fb here in Miami - some of you may remember him. Lets stay locked in and focused overlooking no one and playing every game with a chip on our shoulder!

The team better have moved on. And Mario indicated they have. But fans can continue to soak this in all week. The two do not correlate. But good try OP.
 
Good timing on this post. I, personally, caught myself looking past FAMU to Ball St. I can't imagine the consequences to the team if that had not been remedied. Now, please join me in radiating a warning to the team not to fall into that same trap.

man shut yo *** up let us enjoy body snatching UF at they stadium. If they did that to us we wouldn't hear the end of it. And I only read up to NC and hit reply. How could you not see that we look different up front, thats the biggest take away I saw besides Cam, was the fronts. They ready to compete with anyone
 
There were things that happened that were independent of the opposition. This is also not just about playing Florida. It's about comparing what previous Miami teams would have done.
In previous years, Mertz would have looked like a Heisman candidate.
Running backs would have run wild.

This year's Miami...
Two penalties.
The QB didn't just make good decisions, he also made some ridiculous throws, regardless of who the defenders were.
There were no wasted time outs.
They were aggressive at the end of the half. The didn't just sit on the ball.
The playcalling itself was very aggressive. The coaches trust Ward and he's making a lot of adjustments at the line.
