CALLING THE TIMEOUT..FOR A SHAKY QB WHO WAS RUSHED AND IN PANIC MODE.....JENNINGS JUST WAS GONNA TRY TO SCRAMBLE THERE...BUT U SAVED EM BUT THEN WORSE....DID IT SO LATE THAT YU GOT YOUR FAR END DEND TO GET A RUSHING THE PASSER PENALTY DURING IT.

I THINK THAT WAS ABOUT TO BE BALL GAME...IF NOT A FIRT DOWN BUT CLOCK RUNNING

The penalty on Lightfoot was BS. That won or saved the game for SMU.

A makes no sense. He literally called a timeout and the refs blew the whistle late which led to Lightfoot making contact with the qb
That’s a questionable call & ultimately impacted the outcome. Crazy situation & assuming kid heard whistle. Then, he makes contact but tries to hold up QB. Maybe naive, but would hope officials take into consideration their role trying to stop play, intent of the player & calls potential impact on game.

The 4th & 8 TO. Easily. Either don't call the TO or call it when they show their formation. Waiting to call it till just before they snap the ball literally the only way what happened (which I have never in all my 35-40 years of watching football seen happen on a 4th down before) could happen. Still can't believe that actually happened.

The kneel, meh, they don't trust the QB and for good reason. Same reason they tried to run the ball every play in OT until they couldn't.

Nah man that is judging the result not the decision. I guarantee you if SMU attacked Toure there like they should have you(and I) would be *****ing about why they didn't call a timeout and get into a better personnel package

Waiting to see motion

Waiting to see motion
Which one is it: the motion or calling the TO to get Toure out of there? Motion seems like a weak reason, calling a TO to get better 4th & long personnel a much better reason, but you call the TO earlier in that case.

You're right; we are playing the result, because something completely ridiculous and unprecedented happened: we gave up a first down on a pivotsl 4th and long when the play never actually happened

WHAT BETTER PERSONAL PACKAGE AT LB.?

WES WENT DOWN I GUESS THEY ONLY PLAYED MO , CHASE SMITH, AND POPO....

THEY WERE GONNA KEEP MO IN REGARDLESS AND LIKELY HAVE HIM SPY OR DELAYED BLITZ.

IF YOUR CALLING JUST TO GET TOURE OUT THEN U CALL THAT RIGHT AWAY YOU DONT NEED TO SEE THEIR FORMATION TO DO THAT...IT WAS A PASSING DOWN...AND U CALLING A TIMEOUT THEY WERE GONNA CHANGE THEIR FORMATION REGARDLESS

What? Im Saying you wait until right before snap to call timeout to see if there would also be motion. Teams don't call to.eout Immediately when the offense lines up on those situations lol. They always wait to see if there is any special wrinkle.

We will never know since the refs gave SMU a 1st for nothing

ME PERSONALLY I WASNT GONNA CALLA TIMEOUT THERE...WAS JUST GONNA ALLOW MY DL TO PRESSURE THE **** WITH IT...

IT WAS 4TH DOWN ...HEATHERMAN TENDENCIES HAVE ALREADY SHOWN ME WHAT HE DOES SO ALL HE WAS GONNA CALL IS THAT DELAYED BLITZ TO PREVENT THE QB SCRAMBLE FROMT HE NICKEL GUY OR SAFETY. BEEN CALLING THAT ALL YEAR.

Still not a bad decision to call a timeout in that situation. Would I have done it? Maybe not. But that would have more been based on trying to keep that timeout for the offensive drive. However Mario was a ***** in that decision making making that a non factor in the decision making process. So...

Maybe I'm confused but the post before you responded to me you said:

"I guarantee you if SMU attacked Toure there like they should have you(and I) would be *****ing about why they didn't call a timeout and get into a better personnel package"

So, if getting Toure off the field was a sufficient reason to call a TO, why would you wait to call the TO just before they snapped the ball?

In the 4th down you are planning on calling a timeout to get a better package and plan of attack. But you want to get as much information out of the offense as possible. Even if to just remove one of the plays they really like in that got to have it situation (as most teams will change the call after a timeout there). But they were running tempo, and we stopped them. They wanted to give the guys a rest maybe to make our pass rush as effective as possible and get the right guys in. But there is no need to immediately call the timeout there.
