Any idea if we have offered. Kids film is off the charts. Committed to FSU last week, and Alabama and Ohio State offered now. 4 star kid and have heard anything on him as far as an offer. Seems like a kid we should going after, looks like a stud

Have this kid in my top prospects for Dade/Broward.

He's come out and mentioned before that Miami would be his #1. Miami has not offered yet. FSU offered on signing day and he committed and he will be attending their Junior Day.

I'm wondering where he stands now considering Ohio State and Alabama just offered.

Pete had mentioned this kid before and now it looks like he's blowing up.

FSU, Bama, Taint beating Al to kids in his backyard??? Geez, sad day

Sad.

FWIW they offered his teammate Vosean Joseph at LB but Rice has the higher ceiling and the better prospect than Joseph.

I don't see why they haven't offered yet? Good enough for FSU,Bama and Ohio State...

As I said earlier, wonder where this kid will stand if/when Miami extends an offer as he mentioned Miami would be his #1.

This kid is in our backyard. He should be discovered and offered before any other school.

What you've got to understand is, that, our staph is looking for a particular kind of kid. They don't want to just throw out offers.

What kind of kid it is they're looking for, I don't know. And I don't know for certain that they know either. As a matter of fact, I'm skeptical.

Should not even be an excuse why he has not received an offer yet either. Especially after they have already extended out offers to other linebackers in the state as well.

Sheesh even we discovered him before the staff did, Pete mentioned this kid a few weeks ago.

The fact you got studs like Thompson and Rice in our backyard at Central and Norland and they have not been offered but other schools are getting the jump like our rivals? It bothers me a lot.

We need the LB depth. We don't have that many pure linebackers.

It's because they continue to be asleep at the wheel for far too many kids from our own backyard.

For every time they deserve credit for offering studs like McArthur Burnett and Carlin Fils-Aime before anyone else, they inexplicably lag behind the FSU's and Alabama's of the world for a kid like Emmett Rice. Despite offering a LB in the same class from the same high school who isn't as gifted athletically (Joseph). It's inexcusable.

This is in no way disrespect to our linebacker commits Shaq, Mike and Zach. As they are all studs.

But we need more linebackers and quality too.

Donovan Thompson lead the county with 167 tackles and had 56 in a 3 game stretch against nationally ranked high school teams but yet he might get ignored cause he happens to be an inch or two short at 5'11" but yet we had guys like Perryman and Spence and others before who were under 6'0" as well and were all-American/all-conference performers.

Then to have our rival jump on a kid in Rice who was mentioned here as a potential prospect who could blow up right at Norland a few weeks ago. Landed FSU offer on signing day, committed to FSU and now getting national offers from the likes of Bama and Ohio State. Has the size that this staff would be in love with at 6'3".

To add more salt in the wound. How did they miss Rice when they extended an offer to his teammate who plays the same position as him?

You can't make this **** up. I give them credit for the finds in Burnett at RB/DB from Pahokee and Simmons the LB from Fort Pierce Central.

What happened with Burnett getting an offer today from FSU. Is what is supposed to happen. We are supposed to be at advantage before any other school.

The two examples above in Rice and Thompson is the continued example of the failure of Miami recruiting under this current staff.

Thompson and Rice should have offers to go along with Simmons. Then you pick 1-2 to add to the class and close up shop at LB.

I'm ****ed.

The complaint is how does this kid not have an offer? We should have offered this kid before them. He's in our backyard. And we offered a kid who plays the same position as him from the same school and not nearly the same type of prospect.

Gil is a LB/S. While I do think he ends up a linebacker. He very well could be a safety at the end of the day too.

So technically we have 3.

We need at least 1 more pure linebacker in this class at the most pushing it 2, not a tweener. Our LB depth is bad, lot of tweeners and you can't count the rush ends at all considering how they like to put them to cover WRs.

@Geo305 its quite simple why he has offered Joseph and not Rice. Weight. Golden infatuation about the size of his players carries into recruiting. he is always talking about weight and size. Joseph is 210 and Rice is 189. Golden probably told Rice to gain weight and he will offer and now its too late.

Here's the thing though.

As a coach you have to be able to see the players you can develop and how high their ceiling is and the potential they have. Some kids max out early.

Not always is the finished product the best product. In some cases it is when it comes to technique and readiness like at the skill positions of RB and WR.

But you have to be able to have the eye to identify kids who you know havnt even scraped their ceiling yet and could be star players with some development in the weight room and practice.

That's why I liked the take of Devin Gil as a LB/S but if your gonna take a guy like Gil. Rice is just as deserving of an offer especially when your rival who's been kicking your *** the past 4 years is taking him from your backyard and has schools like Bama and Ohio State extending offers to him as well.

Rice has the frame to add more muscle and strength to his great size already and I'm sure he will be in the weight room this offseason before kickoff classics and even bigger his senior year.

After next year and without factoring in our 2016 commits, our LB corps will likely consist of the following (Gordinier is a rush end, IMO):
SR (2): Grace, Tucker
JR (3): Owens, Young, Gayot (might move back to S)
SO (2): McCray (RS in 2014), Perry (possible RS in 2015)
FR (1): King (likely RS in 2015)

If you're really confident in the depth and talent of that group, I'd almost feel sorry for you. Expecting immediate and heavy contributions from true freshmen is almost always a bad situation. Under a competent HC, we'd have the depth to let the new guys develop at their own pace and earn their spots rather than throwing them right into the fire.

This.

We don't even know how Gayot will adjust to linebacker after moving from safety.

We don't know how King will develop and no disrespect to him at all. Was a take after this staff whiffed on many targets.

Who knows how McCray will develop as he was purely a pass rusher in high school at Ely.

Transfers always happen as well as injuries. Kids don't pan out. Tucker still at FB as well.

So we really are carrying 4 pure linebackers going into 2016. Grace, Owens, Young and Perry. Perry still needs to develop a little himself. Three projects in McCray, Gayot and King.

We are VERY thin at linebacker going into 2016. This class needs another linebacker or at the very most pushing it, 2.

As I said earlier, go after Rice, Simmons and Thompson. Take 1 more of who they like best or if they really feel the need for it. Take 2 more.

To add to Shaq, Zach and Mike and you have a tweener in Gil.

LB Recruiting has been just as bad as CB recruiting up until this 2016 class.

Those three offer, your offer better be the next one the kid gets. There's no excuse for anything else.
