Agreed, and I said the same thing. Looked like they were not even coaching to win. Absolutely nothing in the play calling or designed schemes suggested it. It's like they knew we would lose and the Bama game was just a preseason scrimmage before the real season opener with App St.
I'm convinced they just used that game for personnel evaluation purposes and just wanted to end it quickly and without injuries.
Can guarantee Manny thinking was: We can't beat Bama, and I don't even want to try. I need to win the ACC Coastal to keep my job. It's a long season, and I need to make sure my guys are healthy and fresh the whole season to get me 10 wins.
And agreed. Our hope rests in our young guys because our upperclassmen are mediocre at best. When you have to rely on guys like Jennings, Ivey, McCloud, Gaynor, Wiggins, Carter, Harris and Scaife, then there's just so far you can go.
