Elite traits

Rooster for sure is faster in a straight line. I'll die on that hill. Why we're arguing I dont know, I like both. All around Chaney is better. Rooster is faster imo long speed.
Rooster is not faster in a straight line. Don’s 40 is faster and I’ll guess his 100 and 200 is too. Don at 212 next year will most likely be the fastest player on the team after his summer training. He’s by far the most dedicated to working out in the season and offseason. Don has better feet too. You all can pick your favorite. Reminds me of the Yearby vs Cook argument from a few years back. One is great and one is a future first rounder. It will be obvious next season to all.

I do think Chaney has the potential, but he isn’t there yet. One such example is that I did notice that Chaz Surat met Chaney in the hole and stopped him on short yardage Mano y Mano. Elite college running backs, like Frank Gore and Lamar Miller for example, don’t get stopped like that, but makes a guy miss or at least pushes forward for a yard in that situation. Chaney probably ran too high, gave Surat a target and didn’t have enough power when he hit that hole, but Chaney also needs to hit the weights so that never gets stood up and manhandled like that again

Generally, our players aren’t as good as they think they are when they enter Coral Gables, but with hard work, they can be elite. Hopefully, Rooster, Chaney and the other young Canes put in the necessary work to get better

Yeah... you might want to watch that play again. Don literally had to come to a stop for the handoff and the interior OL let the LB shoot unblocked. Don didn’t get pushed back an inch. “Hit the weight room” I’m guessing you’re squatting 600? I was with a five star on Saturday and he’s 485, and they weigh the same. We both laughed out loud and Don’s strength was the topic. He compared Don to Nick Chubb fwiw in the strength department. You remember a forth and one that everyone **** the bed. I’ll remember after game two this board thought Don sucked. By the last game everyone knew he’s our best back. Like I said, next year everyone will realize he’s gone in three and you’ll talk about him like you do the others.

Oh and Lamar Miller absolutely gets stonewalled there. I’m sure if you watched him play, you know that.

I hope you are right. We desperately need an elite RB. If he can put up Duke Johnson type numbers, that would be great, but I will also settle for a Mark Walton type season too.

I don’t think he’ll be satisfied with anything less than greatness. Hickson better get his **** together fwiw Don’s a back that needs carries to find his groove. He needs let the kid run.

Forgot who said it; but they said Lashlee needs to stop calling plays, and start scheming to our player’s strength. Right now, our biggest strength is our two headed monster. How many teams have two potential AA at that position?

Once we can figure how to create constant mismatches, we roll.

I totally agree with this, but I was surprised at how little I saw it. I'm OK with calling the TE's a wash given injuries, but at no point did I see very creative utilizations of mismatched talent.

Agree with this but with Cam out of the picture the monster works. Chaney is going to obliterate people as a compliment to Rooster's shiftiness.

Dons probably going to be a good one cut and go back but I don't see any wiggle. Cutting looks like a huge effort and not effortless for him.

Part of the issue tbh is the over use of the word “elite”

I mentioned it in a post like 3 months ago. UM has quite a few good players and several very good players (Jordan, Mallory, King, Roche, Phillips). Elite ?

Elite means to me one of the 3 best at their position in the country.

Last 10 years, how many of those have we had? 5, maybe? And almost never on the same team.

Bama has 4-5 a year
Clemson has 4-5 a year.

Last 10 years, according to that standard of elite:

NO elite OL
NO elite QB
NO elite WR
Be generous and say Duke was elite (1)
Be generous and say Jordan is elite (2)
Be generous and say Spence was elite (3)
NO elite corners
NO elite safeties
Borregales is elite (4)
Rousseau was elite (5)

BAMA this year alone
Leatherwood
Davante
Harris
Surtain

Give any QB in our roster the kind of time QBs have on “elite “ teams and I have zero doubt our offense, with the playmakers we have will look far better.

All of these discussions in here are mute and worthless until we have the quality blocking necessary to give that elite talent opportunity to shine. It feels as though we are wasting elite talent because our OL is pathetic. Please lord let some of our better beasts develop the chemistry, skill, and strength needed to maximize the talent we have in the backfield.
Thank you Santa, help me believe

I think the list I posted is pretty damning. Miami has had a couple dozen very good players the last 10 years. Elite players? Maybe 5

Deficiencies in scheme and coaching are well documented, but the top tier talent hasn’t been there

You mention Rooster, what elite traits does he have?
I want to know too.Other than the busted play against UL,he did nothing that came close to the hype our fans were throwing his way.Chaney who was the 3rd RB most of the season at least flashed a few times busting open big plays.**** even Cam when he was a freshman and would come in against tired defenses broke a couple long TDs,I was expecting the same from Rooster and he never did,not once even against the ****** teams on the schedule.
