The four-star running back is scheduled to visit Miami this weekend for their game against
Pittsburgh as the Hurricanes continue pursuing one of the top ball-carriers in the 2028 class. While his pledge to the Buckeyes remains firm, Newman-Hall made it clear that Miami has been aggressive in its efforts to bring him to Coral Gables. "They are pushing very hard, as hard as they would for any top running back in the class," Newman-Hall told 247Sports. "They really want me there, but at the same time, I am committed to Ohio State."
"I am still locked in and will remain committed until my senior year," he said. "Coach [Carlos] Locklyn does not want to hold me back from seeing other programs or make me feel caged in, but my commitment remains solid."
"When Miami first offered and I visited in the summer, that was the main topic," he said. "They explained how I fit their scheme and how they would build the offense around what I do."
The Hurricanes have a potential selling point in the way they utilize physical, downhill running backs.
The Hurricanes are not alone in pursuing Newman-Hall. He also identified
Alabama,
Auburn,
Notre Dame,
Florida and
Tennessee as programs recruiting him outside of his commitment to Ohio State. Of that group, Miami, Notre Dame and Florida have been among the most aggressive.
With IMG playing on Saturdays, Newman-Hall said travel can be difficult during the season and that he will likely take additional visits in the spring. He is still planning to see Ohio State for their games against
Oregon and
Michigan in November.
