I love the Tyler Warren comparison.

One thing we didn't run a single time last year was Wildcat. Penn State did that a bunch with Warren, I wonder if we see some of that with Lofton this year.

You can basically come out in 11, and the defense is going to match up with their nickel package most likely, and you can split Beck out wide, spread the field with the 3 receivers, and snap the ball directly to Lofton with Fletcher as a lead blocker into what will almost certainly be a light box. Our 5 linemen plus Fletcher against a 6 man box with Lofton carrying the ball sounds like a problem for the defense.
Warren was probably the most impressive player I saw last season, so that’s asking a lot.

Warren was a playmaking machine last year, but they also had no choice but to feed him. PSU was pretty feeble on the outside. OJ McDuffie and Kenny Jackson weren't exactly walking through that door

The WR unit had 0 yards in that loss to Notre Dame in the semi-finals

I personally don't see Dawson calling that many plays designed for Lofton. Now if Beck is checking down to him or just finding him on his own, that could happen. I can see some designed calls for him against ND more than anyone. I hope I am wrong. We shall see. I have stated, I am not as high on Bauman as others are. I see him as a blocker, RZ threat with his height and using his body to shield defenders. He just isn't running himself open. I really need to get a feel for what and who Beck likes here. It seems like he likes Ray Ray.

you dont need to do anything particularly exotic to get Lofton the ball. Old school plays like the fullback leak out into the flat, or the Texas route out of the backfield are easy ways to get him touches.

Does the name "Tyler Warren" mean anything to you?

Imagine if I threw in that Butch Davis wouldn't know how to use Lofton
Think you’re wrong on this note. On a Butch squad, he’d likely look a lot like 2000 Najeh in the pass game or DJ Williams (in terms of assignments).

In a Shannon Dawson offense, I hope he effectively shows us something more than wham blocks (plus, the leak out to the flat when using the wham block motion) and Hback screens.

Dawson glows about Lofton. His only had 1 run and 1 reception in the bowl game but he was all over the field, and probably would have gotten Arroyo's looks. I would be surprised if he's not a mainstay of our offense this season. Especially in check down, which as you note, we should assume Beck will use more often than Ward.
