2027 Eli Woodard 4* WR From Temecula, CA (Chaparral HS) Pre-flip Thread

For the folks who think Eli would be “staying close to home” if he went to Cal, have you ever looked at a map? It’s almost an 8 hour car ride.
UCLA’s football program stinks como mierda so not worried there.

Eli decommitted from USC about a month ago, has taken two visits and has a third one coming. This is NIL era where agents create/fabricate stories for leverage to ⬆️ the 💰. Some of you must be new or high estrogen because this isn’t new. Does this guarantee we get Eli? No it does not. However some of these freak out comments in response to a generic post-visit tweet is really weak. Some would even say feminine. 💅🏾
40min flight vs 6+hr flight tho.
Out of Temecula International?

You throw like a girl.
I'm a little disappointed that you didn't include any insults.

Other than being disappointed in your lack of insults, what you wrote is fair and accurate. I can also add this - I've made very little of my lifetime income via UM networking. That doesn't mean I haven't had any networking wins nor that I'm the prototypical example. HeII I've been to UM alumni events and they're typically dominated by lawyers and financial planners and I am neither. I would be willing to bet that the folks on here who are lawyers and financial planners would have a very different opinion/experience than mine, but maybe not.
Throwing objects has always been my worst athletic skill. I was just specifically replying to the poster who talked about networking AND making millions. And I went to Cal so I'm biased.
This isn’t very fun. I was hoping for some creative insults so that I could use them against some co-workers.

If you don’t want to plan for guys to portal out, sure you can do that

Taking 1 WR sounds like a very bad plan though. Think about the FOLLOWING yr.

Toney, Jacobs, Vaughn are definitely out. What if we lose 1 of Mooore/Upshaw to portal this offseason? Sure we signed 4 Frosh WRs last yr, but they are alll unproven. 2 is minimum you should ever take out of HS

I agree 2 is more likely and imo the better move, but 5 in 2 years is pretty much on schedule… And 1 this year wouldn't be the end of the year.

You should always plan to lose at least 1 to portal every other yr. And we want like 11ish WRs on roster. So we want to avg like 3.5-3.75yr. Especially if guys are getting drafted early…

Last yr we brought in 5. 3 left via grad/portal. This yr we brought in 6. Expect 1-3 to leave via grad/portal after this season. Most likely we will have 7/8 WR returning for next season before HS class comes in. We absolutely should not only take 1. Even if everyone except Barkate returns we shouldn’t only take 1 for that reason - taking 2 puts us at 11 WRs in 2027 and 5 of them would be upper classman/draft eligible….

I would say you should plan on losing more than that. But even then no that's not a necessity to bring that many in every year, because you are likely adding a portal kid, because you can also portal in kids

I think they will bring in 2, especially because they still are recruiting Vilma. It's not the end of the world if they don't though. Off of 4 year last year and with a portal there to give just like it takes away.

Looks like Temecula -> SFO is 1hr 40mins for as low as $56 round trip right now

SD ->Oak 1hr 30mins for $130 round trip

So longer than 40mins
Nobody is flying out of French Valley Airport (Temecula, CA). They dont even accommodate any of the major commercial carriers, its all helicopters, little Cessna's and **** like that.

He would drive down to San Diego and fly into Oakland. Its about an hour drive down, more with traffic then the 1.5hr flight etc.

I think we'll take 2.
We’re not taking ANYTHING! Hopefully we sign 2! BIG PAUSE!
Oh My God Omg GIF

Adam Gorney predicted Cal for Woodard at 50% confidence level w/ Miami being the biggest threat. Says he won’t go as far as others who believe Cal is the clear frontrunner.

Out WR depth chart is strong. Some ma not want part of it. Let’s see how this one shakes out but we have are vwry deep at WR

“Definitely” is a strong word. And you got alot of “ifs” bro. I would have lost money if you had told me Jordan Lyle would still be here. All I’m saying is..in a small class..it’s not a “must”

Jacobs and Vaughn would literally be out of eligibility, and if Toney isn't declaring early something very ****ed up happened. So Definitely is absolutely definitely there.

" a lot of ifs".... how exactly do you think it's possible to plan for 2 years out without ifs, which is what you do with HS recruits.

The facts are at best our roster in 27 is CURRENTLY 10 without adding any more in HS or Portal this summer. And again if anyone portals or declares unexpectedly, we'd then be only at 9. So should we add a portal WR when all we'd need is depth? Id say getting another HS WR makes more sense:
1 yr Elig - Jacobs, Vaughn
2 yr Elig (maybe 3 if Upshaw or Moore RS for some unexpected reason) - Toney, Moore, Upshaw
3-4 yr Elig - Wingo, Parris, Spafford, Evans, Lennear, Anyone Else

So like I said, Personally I don't think we should hit up portal next offseason for WR. Which means we should absolutely be going for at minimum 2 HS WRs. But then....

2028 is shaping up to be 7 guys before the 2028 HS class is counted *IF* we only take 1 from 2027. And again this is nobody portals out in 2 years:
1 yr Elig - Moore, Upshaw (if one didn't leave early to portal/draft)
2yr Elig - Probably Wingo
3yr Elig - Probably Parris, Spafford, Evans, Maybe Lenear
4yr Elig - Anyone else from 2027 class, and 2028 HS class (ideally Brysen Wright is one of them).

2028 WR room would look good still as long as we land Lennear+Wright in 27+28, but purely from numbers we would then need to sign like 3 more for 2028 and probably still get a portal guy that is at least proven then. So we'd go 4 in 26, 1 in 27, 4 in 28 out of HS... When that is 9/3 yrs which is 3/yr. It's better to just sign 2 this class and 3 next class (2028) knowing we will have to spend a ****load to even hope to land Wright...

I don't think we should under any circumstance only sign 1 hs WR or CB in any year ever. 2 Minimum.

I think there's an outside chance Vaughn redshirts…I know it seems far-fetched. But things would be much easier for him to have a big role with Jacobs and Barkate gone. (he's behind Moore as well) And remember they took him and Jacobs before Barkate to UM was thing.

Maybe a little far-fetched, I know redshirting isn't real popular nowadays, but this may be one spot player and team good benefit. I mean he's likely fighting Wingo for the #6 spot this year?

Not likely considering redshirting isn’t going to exist if the ncaa goes through with their 5 for 5 plan as scheduled to start this year

It’s a lot more plausible we shirt the true freshman than the transfer if it’s between those two.
