Either we stopped them for a loss or they gained 15 yds

#4 total defense nationally after 3 games. Small sample size but it is all we have. #1 tfl, #37 scoring, surprising #1 3rd down conversion, tied #21 sacks. Tied #69 red zone conversion.

Some definite warts but a lot to be happy with after 3 games.

To be fair, you have to look at the stats of all teams vs FBS teams.
#23 total defense ,#9 tfl, #73 scoring, #3 3rd down conversion, #28 sacks. Tied #96 red zone conversion.

As someone posted above, 2 games is too small of a sample size anyway.

I was at the game sitting next to my buddy who cane along. Based on our defensive alignment I successfully called where the Toledo offense was going about 80% of the time. It also helped my cause when Knowles was in the game but still

When we play a real offense we are in trouble.
THIS... This is what I have been saying all along, Diaz lovers, just wait

If we want to blame Diaz then let’s look at the number of defensive players on the roster. Richt has 44 offensive players, Diaz has 34, 3 STers. Give Diaz 9 more kids with a few years in the system.

Quan goes down, Carter doesn’t travel, knowles plays big minutes...we look average. We are still forced to play freshman early.

Hold on......you're saying that the offense will run their play based on where the defense is lined up? GTFOH.

Yes that is our D . Waaaay better then any D ran at Miami since Schiano's D but I would like a little less feast or famine . Alot of that does come from the inexperience though . last year was better then year 1 and this year will be better then last year IMO. But overall I zero complaints about our D as we have one of the best up and coming coaching staffs in college on that side.

No.......it was NOT fine.....Stop it....
LOL you are right it wasn't fine . It was good . Not great but good. We were great sure at some things and average at some so overall just good not amazing . And the most important thing - it was better then it has been in years. You can't fly until you have learned to walk . These things happen in steps . Just like people *****ing about anything at this point - you sound silly as Miami is the best we have been in 17 or so years. Now if we aren't better then this in 2 years , sure ***** but every year we are better then the last that is all you can ask .

Is it too late for you to put in your resume at Miami? We need geniuses like you to help our coaches.

So between this thread and the LB roasting thread... Does Manny's Defense get better as we transition into faster/more athletic LB's?

Thank u; thank u for saying this. Wasn’t at the game, but literally called audibles for Toledo during the game from home.

So I watch the Bama game v Ole Miss. Here’s the difference between the elites and us and it’s not just players; it’s coaching. Bama was confusing the **** out of Ole Miss on def all game. They would show cover two, then at the snap switch to single high safety. They would show zone, then switch to man. It was beautiful football.

Diaz literally shows his hand every snap. It’s so simple a pop warner coach could call this out. Diaz plays hide and seek with no one hiding. We play a real offense and we’re in real trouble.

Outside of one 50 yard run, LSU didn't do squat. SS had 78 yards of total offense. Toledo was 2-11 on 3rd down and we had 13 TFLs.

Diaz isn't perfect, neither is this D. But they adjusted and answered after a bad third quarter and shut them down completely down the stretch without JJ.

Don't get the bashing.

Straw man much

No one is saying he needs to be perfect, but some accountability would be nice. The fact that after three years he doesn’t have anyone on the roster better than Knowels or Mike Smith is unacceptable.
