If duke johnson does decide to come back for his senior year, do you think one of our commits will leave? our backfield would be Super crowded. Johnson, Yearby, Gus, Trayone, Scarlett, Williams, and Walton. Thats like 7 legit backs.

There will definitely be some shirts given out but of all the incoming one may avoid a shirt. The will be some position shifting and maybe more two back sets. The H back position will be filled by maybe one or two of them.

Gus to fullback/Hback role, Trayone to wr, and williams slot/scat back. Plenty of time for yearby scarlett and duke. Walton redshirt. All obviously just my opinion. And yes i know Gus isnt an ideal fullback but i think he'd be a good check down option and using sparingly on running downs.

I think this recent article moves the needle to leaving for the NFL? Before now his Mama was adamant that he not leave until he had his degree and those close to them said that was strong. Now they are talking about it so the usual considerations of draft status and more important the money potential will rule. In you guys opinion does it have to first round for him to leave?

I said this before, I hope Duke leaves!!! I know that our running game may not be as dynamic next year, but I would surely love to get a stable of young backs who can all spilt carries. Duke has been a trooper in his time as a Cane, he needs to strike while the iron is hot. Hopefully after this season is done, because

1. Healthy, will prove he can play the whole season.
2. Productive, he produces ALL season long, not just when we play weak opponents.
3. Future, I dont think we are going to be making a title run next season. ACC Champ, possible, but not National Championship. Thats just my opinion. That would be the only scenario, I would hope that he would come back.

Go ahead and Rep the U proudly in the NFL for some team that can use his talents effectively.

I honestly hope they move Gus to more of a wing back role unless he keeps having games like he did against Virginia Tech, but I can't help but imagine him in the role we wanted Beau Sandland to be in.

Duke getting picked by the dolphins is what I want to happened. Moreno is virtually done here so we need another Rb to go with miller. Why not Duke? I am looking forward to seeing Dex and Scarlett play here.

RBs in first round are rare today. Duke is special but probably not 1st in today's NFL. He is a complete back and will go early but I think more like second round. That UGA dude is only likely 1st pick this year. Duke made some money against VT with that 3rd down catch and last second catch and run fro TD. As a Cane fan, I like Duke too much to want him to take the chance coming back, not a RB. Kid gave us his all and without him we have been horrible, he should get his $$ and come back to finish degree. Beat noles and go cash that check Duke.

Only running back that is going in the first round is Gurley that only because of his size, NFL teams have had to many bust to pick one in the first round when you get good RB in the second and third round

Doubt he leaves

Everyone talks about the pounding a RB takes but Duke has really only played one full year. His fresh yr he split carries with M.James, his soph season was cut short and he's now more than halfway through his junior campaign. He still has plenty of college carries in em.

Now as far as his family situation, I cant speak on that.

He's not an every down back in the league neither, purely based on his size, so his carries will be limited there as well

He doesn't have anything left to prove and his flaws translating to the NFL won't be fixed with another year of college. My biggest concern at the NFL level will be pass pro. He's more than willing to do it but it's a different game in the NFL. How many times can he cut a 250 lb backer and hold up at 205-210 lbs? Nothing he does next year will fix those kinds of concerns. He's an absolute stud and isn't afraid to block at all, but durability is still a concern, imo

3d or 4th round IMO. Running back's are used differently now. Ellenington is a small back & Duke would probably be used like him
