Effect of cancelled 2020 season on QB recruiting?

Thinking about this subject this morning - right now Miami is making efforts to sign a QB for the 2021 class. Garcia, or perhaps others. But let’s presume the 2020 season is cancelled and everyone’s eligibility is frozen. In the case of the Hurricanes, the quarterback that they hope to sign would go into the summer 2021 camp competing with:

King (1 year eligibilty)
Perry (2 years eligibility)
Tate (2 years eligibility)
Machoda (4 years eligibility, no redshirt)
Van Dyke (4 years eligibility, plus redshirt option)

Now this problem will be present in any position, but because of the unique nature of the QB role and recruiting, getting a signee might be particularly difficult in the 2021 class. Rather than have at least a one year gap with Van Dyke, a new QB will be competing directly with him. It would be as if Miami signed two highly rated QBs in the same class. That usually leads to one transferring out eventually.

Thoughts?

QB's gotta compete. Garcia is will be competing against Moss @ USC if he goes there. The Portal will continue to offer up chances to fill in the gaps.

If college eligibility is frozen it doesn't mean that draft eligibility is frozen.

Meaning, redshirt freshman and sophomores will be draft eligible (3 years removed from HS).

Right?

I’m not sure. It creates an interesting quandary for the NFL...if their season is cancelled as well you would have the 2020 and 2021 draft classes competing for what would otherwise be roughly 8-10 roster spots that usually go to rookies. Imagine the Dolphins with all of their additional picks in each of their draft classes. It will be a great temptation for teams to get rid of veteran players and go young.

Young players in the NFL leads to losing seasons. You have to have veterans and or risk lots of losing and alienating your fan base. Look at some of these teams with poor attendance.. or some teams who go young and don't develop their young players. The jets are a prime example.
