We would be the joke of the country if we sign this guy and his cousin becomes a Nole next year
Lingard seems to have cooled on fsu. Fsu fans think its because cook commited.

So its ok to take jeff james just because he is edge nephew? Jeff had no offers.
Jeff James had 11 picks in his first and only year of playing HS ball. He earned that offer.
No he did not. Plenty of guys in high school put up stats and dont get offers to big schools. If edge wasnt his uncle he would not have got that offer.
Stop it Skip. The only thing Edge did was get his tape to the coaches. Thats IF he did that. The coaches saw a baller and offered. Simple as that.
You dont know what you are talking about.

Talk that **** on Jeff if you want to. Jeff has upside through the roof. His problem was he just started playing the game. You do understand his uncle is a diamond club donor right? That would get your nephew a ship right now if you wanna finish off donations for the ipf.
Im just saying everybody knows why he got a offer. I dont know what kind of player he can be. His highlights showed a lot of passes getting throwed directly to him.
So the only way UM can win is with Lingard? How'd that work for LSU and Fournette? Miles went and got him and did what it took and got fired. There's no downside to you to letting a recruit dictate offers a year ahead to the weak part of the package deal because it's not your money, job, team and reputation on the line. There is seemingly no down side to the deal. Scholarships are renewable so a player can be cut per se if needed. We are devoid of talent, and for the star chasers we only have two 5* players on the roster. We can double that by doing the deal.
Cuz comes from 5* bloodlines. That does not mean he will be an impact player, but that plus the chance to be on the field with his family may make him one of those classic UM players that is about his team, plays with heart and gives 110% (those SFLA specials we all talk about - even though he is not from SFLA).
Checkers and chess boys, which game do you want to play boys?
Says the man who will ***** when Lo goes elsewhere. Money, job, team and reputation are on the line if you cannot win because you cannot pull in the studs. When you start winning you can dictate the terms, until then you are one in the pack trying to get a leg up. That is why Bama as I think it was you noted does not need to offer cuz.
Supply and demand, they have the supply right now and they know we need it, win the ACC, play for a title, then the tables turn.
Go get Lingard. Make a deal. But be smart. I trust Rick's judgment on this over yours and the "just do whatever Lingard wants" crew. His job is on the line, and he's a UM guy who loves UM. He'll do it how he wants, and we'll get good enough RBs to win here.

Yea sure. Only reason Richt is at UM is because UGA didn't want him anymore. and UM offered him incentives and a better salary than other schools would have.
I don't think people really realize how big of a get it would be to land Lingard... Literally the best RB we would have since Duke.
I think he's the most important player for us to land for 2018...
But I gotta be honest, I'm not very confident in this staff's ability to recognize that these are the kinds of things you have to do in order to land an Elite 5-star like Lingard.
He's definitely very much interested in us, I just hope to god we don't drop the ball with this kid.
But what about the infamous SEC bagmen?

Lo didn't make a request, he simply made a statement. That doesn't mean that he will only go where LJ has an offer.
He loves Miami. Always has, he's just trying to help his cousin out whether it's Miami or not. Nothing more, nothing less.
If LJ somehow gets on at Miami (which they've been looking at him since last summer), the Lo & Tae would commit. It's that simple.
If LJ doesn't get an offer, that does not mean that Lo & Tae are going elsewhere. That just means it's not a guarantee.
Every single school is recruiting Lo, so you can imagine how many reached out last night. For some reason our fan base is all of a sudden standing on moral high ground. Here is something to think about, LJ is graduating this year and the season has been over for a month now, so why would Lo just randomly send out this Tweet? Could it possibly be that MULTIPLE power 5 schools interested in him have already made the offer? Could it be that he wants the school he's most interested in to make the same offer? This **** isn't rocket science.

Why not just call the HC rather than tweet it then?
I'm sure he's got a direct line to the HC of every school he's interested in.
Exactly. Why the subterfuge? Why the necessity in tweeting it? It's as simple as picking up the phone and contacting our staff and let them know what his "terms" are.
Young people today don't communicate that way. Kids send an email, for example, for issues that less than a generation ago would have required a face to face meeting. I have to tell college students to come see me. Social media and texting has changed how they communicate in fundamental ways. Sometimes it's nuanced. Here you have a kid making an announcement rather than speaking directly face-to-face. Obviously, it's more comfortable for him to just make the announcement because there is a social distance between he and our staff. For those of us who are used to face to face communication or at the very least picking up a phone and calling someone to address a need, this mode of communication, although commonplace today amongst youngsters, is a foreign and less effective means of communicating. Pretty sure Notsince1985 has a similar experience with his students.

You say you know recruiting but you're statements are contradictory. I'm not trying to be an asset here. Just pointing something out that should be a given. First & foremost the cousin is a 17 recruit Lingard is an 18 recruit & Tae is a 20 recruit. Even if they say yes were gonna give a verbal to um now it don't mean ****. A verbal is irrelevant as its the same thing as a silent or still considering your choices. The only reality comes when you fax in your letter of intent which neither of them could do till that first Wednesday in February of their senior years... Mathew Thomas was a commit to us. You see where it got us. Without a signed nli it's all gossip for fanbases

That's exactly $1,000,000.00 more than ToiletPile801 has given to UM.So the only way UM can win is with Lingard? How'd that work for LSU and Fournette? Okay, he doesn't care about UM.
He did pledge $1,000,000.00 to help fund the IPF.

Now youre looking at apples & oranges brother. The vast majority of dbs high school tapes show passes basically getting thrown to them especially in high school football in Florida where qbs are conventionally simply athletes put at the spot because they can move around & make something happen. Not exactly a great recipe for stud qbs.

Thats a good point but it doesnt help james case. If he is good enough to play here is still to be determined.
