If anyone has not yet seen his HUDL then you are doing yourself a disservice. The kid is the complete package at CB. Has top-15 pick written all over him and is ELITE at everything

tackling✅
closing speed✅
return skills✅
cover skills✅
anticipation✅

I think his film is the best in the nation.

Sophomore Season

Junior Season

I like the kid, but I actually think his junior hudl is kinda lacking… Maybe because they didn't throw much at him with Johnson out for season. I think his sophomore tape is better.

I think a lot of Wright is projection, and when he does make a play it looks big league/smooth…from a size/speed/movement standpoint, yes he's a top 50 kid, but as far as junior tape, I don't think his tape even compares to Halls.

his sophomore tape is sick. I do agree they threw a LOT less at him junior year.

I stopped watching 1:30 into the HUDL above. I felt like I was watching a Jr High highlight reel because he was at WR on some plays, throwing a pass on another, returning kicks. I'm not saying he's anything less than terrific - he's clearly a great athlete. However I can't tell how good/great he is at CB from that film due to small sample size.

Disclaimer - this is not a criticism of the player or the poster for the commentary. This is just my opinion.

Same observation as the guys above. I do love an athlete with much range, shows he's clearly the best player on his team. I love the willingness to lay the wood. No arm tackling reminds me of James Williams. He needs to get that fixed. But you can't teach balling, and Wright is a baller.

Like others mentioned above, it isn't much of a highlight tape. I think most would scroll right by it if they knew nothing about rankings, etc.

Having said that, if you're an elite corner there's one thing you prep for if you've got this kid on the schedule. As an offense and QB you drill down on seeing where he is on the field and go the other way if the CB skills are as advertised. So that results in a not many highlights for this prospect and you get this type of highlight reel.

Guess we'll see what happens in the future, happy to have a guy who can play all over the field. Still, that's nowhere near the best film in the land or even close to it.

"Best film in the nation" is certainly a take...his highlight tape is overrated.

If you didn't know that was Donte Wright on tape you would not think he is a 5 star. I'm sure he has shown out in camps and his testing numbers are why he's rated so high.

His Junior highlight tape shows nothing on him playing corner.

His sophmore film is better as far as corner work

yeah I should have added the sophomore tape.

There is a reason why you see so few instances of him playing corner. The sophomore tape tells you why.

They stopped throwing his way.

I saw both back to back. Should have added it as well.

My bad.

Prototype

Coach Jefferson can make a real name for himself with the 2 horses he has landed this cycle. Both have NFL upside and he already has a **** good room. 📈📈
The thing I love about the pickups is that we are being proactive. We arent scrambling to find replacements for kids that are already gone. We brought in Seatbelt, Wyman and Jennings and then went out and got more talent.

With Jaboree entering Y2, that’s how you stack. Getting these ‘27 guys across the finish line and adding them to that room is really nuts when you think about where we were 2 years ago in the secondary. It was the worst I’ve ever seen talent wise.
