He had expressed an interest in coaching, and coached one season as an assistant DB coach when Rex Ryan was HC of the Bills.

When you listen to him speak he seems a natural leader, teacher, and mentor. The question is he willing to put in the long hours needed as a college football coach? Would he like going on the road recruiting? He has a wife and young children (son, I think). He has other business interests, I’m sure.

Maybe his current role suits him. He’s already mentored players, been a sounding board and resource for the coaching staff. I think he is not allowed to recruit as if he were a coach but I’ve read recruits can contact him. I’d be shocked if James Williams hasn’t spoken with Reed. We’ve learned from the last six-nine months of COVID he doesn’t need to be on campus all the time.

I enjoy seeing him on the sideline.

Let’s see how his role evolves over the season and into next offseason.

Yeah, when our safeties and backers started to get closer to the LOS on blitzes I had a feeling ed had something to do with it

They might try some kind of crap like "Only coaches can coach the players. Breaking down film, chatting on the bench, or working refs is coaching".
 
I was happy to see him on the sidelines in official capacity. Pope took a late hit out of bounds and Ed ran over and ripped Pope up to his feet faster than he went down. Would love for him to have a head set on.

As far as I know Reed already cannot coach players, as far as being on the practice field. He cannot contact or recruit on the road.

If the NCAA wants to label breaking down film as ‘coaching’ every ‘analyst’ in CFB needs to be fired.

Come on, I know that. I was being facetious about them redefining what it is to "coach".

A ban on non coaches talking to officials is coming, I can feel it. Or, maybe a rule that sepcifically titles which coaches can be thwre. Call it the Ed Reed rule. Look, I’m just shooting in the dark but if it benefits Miami I wouldn't put it past them.

He will be on everyone’s face if we are not DOMINATING fswho at halftime this Saturday

He is a blessing to the U and a MONSTER here in every face of the game/recruiting

He has. He was a coach under Rex Ryan briefly. He’s stated he wants to coach. He’s be vital as a secondary coach and in the recruiting trail.

Not sure with his son if ER is interested in becoming a coach, at least not now. Not when he can essentially come and go as he pleases and gets to look at things from an outside standpoint from the coaching staff. He’s been a Godsend to have on the sidelines, I’m happy with that for now. Then when his son is older perhaps he will make a trek into coaching. I just don’t see it u til after that time.

You claim ER is doing Manny's job, scream for nearly every coach to be fired, you've benched half the roster then talk like ER is some type of whisperer here saving the day. When we do well it's him, when we fail it's Manny or Baker.

Why does your hyperbole have to be so extreme.
