Interesting. I'd love to see him coaching a position here.

"Grambling State earned plaudits for hiring former NFL head coach Hue Jackson as its next head coach as the storied HBCU program aims to return the team to prominence and reinvest in its future. However, according to sources, the school took an outside-the-box approach with its search and initially offered the position to Hall of Fame safety Ed Reed."

Dammit mane... HBCUs coming mane... Give it another 10 yrs and you'll have at least 2 or 3 HBCU teams ranked in the top 25 preseason poll
LMFAO. They are hoping wealthy NFL HOFers are willing to coach for **** near free, they are still suffering in regards to funding and fan support. Keep in mind, a good number of HBCUs are still struggling to find funding for academic programs, you think they are going to have the financial wherewithal to join the FBS? A lot of them don't have the fan support to meet the attendance requirements, unless they play every single game as a "Classic".

Lmfao no they will not. I've watched a couple of HBCU games this year and it's horrible football.

I'll give credit where it's due Deion has done a better job than I thought he would.
that's more because deion is able to recruit talent that hbcu's typically never sniff. a full roster of composite 2-3 stars would dominate year in and out.

I went to Grambling. Definitely needed a spark and a change. Hue Jackson is very experienced. Should help with recruiting and he is a great x and o guy
HBCU will always need a spark aka bags. If a Superbowl QB can make a dent what does.

Hbcus are increasingly unnecessary, all universities want to expand their number of African American students, so they are going after the same students but have more resources. And for the students it’s probably better to go to a traditional large university. Due to more resources , but also the need to be able to get along with people outside of ones own race. You have to be comfortable in a diverse environment if you want to succeed. Can’t stay in safe space

I agree, but there's a large contingent of folks that don't want to see that happen and they will try to shoot down ANY notion of it happening. Even if it's happening right before their collective eyes.

No one doubts Reed has many of the traits to be a successful coach. He’s a leader, and his football knowledge isn’t questionable. But does he want the day-to-day year-round responsibilities of being a coach? Recruiting, managing a staff, dealing with boosters, administration, and the media?

Ed hasn’t pursued a coaching career, other than one season as an assistant DB coach for Rex Ryan.

“I’ve talked to Coach Harbaugh briefly at times, about things. I’m not a position coach, man. I can coach position but no,” Reed told Baltimore Beatdown. “It’s not a position that I want because for one, I’m working with guys that are probably younger than me. [They] haven’t played the game and just won’t even hear my voice [if I’m] put as a position coach. My voice won’t even be heard. So that’s why I tweeted about being a [defensive coordinator] or head coach. I know what I’m capable of, I know what I aspire for. You gotta know your worth. Like I said, I’ve been in the league around a lot of coaches and looking at some of these coaches get jobs who I’ve worked with. I mean, did you see the interview from the head coach in Philly? You know what I mean?”
