Ed Reed is here because Texans lied

Obviously there are some things to like too about the hire...And Reed isn't your everyday, average, ex player. Let's hope he knows what he knows a defers when he doesn't. Obviously it could help with recruiting.

I was cautious initially, but ER has continued to say that what made us great was work and competition on Greentree. If he can bring some fire to our team then I'm all for it.

Truth. I do think Blake and Manny think it is one but we know they are stupid so that is no surprise.

U know I ain’t one of these Orange president snowflakes who think nothing is racist (and anything negative about their guy hurts them to the core)....

But...... doesn’t that term have enough history behind it that we all know “asylum” as a place for crazies and “inmates” as people who inhabit the asylum, with no racial insinuation?

I hear what you're saying but you're missing the point.

My recollection is he banned his players from kneeling (in protest of racial injustice) and then referred to them as "inmates." To me, 1) you sure as **** don't refer your employees as inmates, and 2) it was a very, very poor choice of words, at best.

Listen to what Reed said about his time with the Texans.

Especially when 90% of said employees are Black Americans.....

Got it ok I see your point.

In the context of everything else going on there I see the issue.
 
Ed will state his sh** whether you agree with him or not.
It is important he gets direct vocal contact with the team by Manny in order to lay out his philosophy and thoughts,........ so the players know what he is all about.
He will leave no one in doubt after his thoughts are out there.
Ex.........."if you do not want to work and put in the effort for the Canes, just keep on walking we do not want you"....paraphrasing.
Now if all the Coaching staff buys in, and they are moving in 1 direction, there WILL be cultural change at our U, motivated by Ed.

Yep besides Darrell Green the only other DBs I can think of that played to 40 or later is Rod Woodson and Terrence Newman Both those guys were elite track sprinters in college

The numbers actually say that pass coverage was his best remaining asset.

His run stopping numbers were even worse than his pass coverage.

Is this based on PFF? I think you put a brain like Ed with the right DC and environment he could have still been an effective piece to a defense

And those numbers include his post-Texans stint with the Jets under Rex Ryan.

Which is expected from a Free Safety vs a Strong Safety....Sure Ed's skills had diminished alittle...But Cot ****....thats expected...
