Easy Solutions to Our OL problems in the Meantime

I know a lot of people are freaking out about our OL problems for good reason, but there is still no reason for us to lose anymore games until we vs an actual good team like Clemson. I still think Scaife and Campbell should be swamped, but even if they are not there are a ton of options to help the young OTs:
  • Use 2 tight end sets (one each side) and chip with both tight ends. When i say chip I mean exploding off the ball and trying to knock the defender off his feet, not just a little push then run a route
  • Change it up with same 2 TE formation. Sometimes 1 TE stays to block. Sometimes they both block, sometimes they fake they are going to chip and quickly explode upfield because eventually defenders are going to expect them slow off the ball and we can take advantage
  • Screen passes (RB and TE screen as well after chip)
  • Use more shotgun and less play action
  • Go shotgun and 2 runningbacks to each side of QB for blocking or quick screen
  • Delayed QB draws, let those DEs pin their ears back and run right by them going wide
The list can go on and on. This UNC game will tell us what we have with Enos. One of the biggest problems with the OTs is the fact that their get off is slow. Having other blockers to just slow down DEs a bit will make all the difference. They will start to slow down expecting someone to chip and that will allow our OTs to catch up after the bad jump.

All in all the OTs should not be a reason for us to lose to a team in the coastal.

I actually like this solution.. (y) We have to play Chess. Also would like to see more roll outs.... with a Te blocking on the backside. Don't recall how many times we did that?

Crazy part is that the first drive of the game we did that and for some reason we moved to having to get big chunks instead of keeping it on that page. Short quick throws, screens and chipping is all we did.

What makes the patriots special is other teams aren’t patient enough to stick to the 4-5 yards a pop. We fell into the trap at times as well I think with the PA shots that failed miserably

You just rehashed exactly what every Enos blower on here has said was going to happen for the last 6 months because it's common ******* sense. And then....it didn't.

Agree with everything you said and I was screaming at the game for theses things to happen. And I for life of me can’t understand why are million dollar a year OC couldn’t see it and do it! Shame in enos because his lack of adjustments when it was crystal clear that our tackles couldn’t handle there ends one on one, those adjustments should have been made. I mean if we the fans can see it, then how can an expert like enos not? It’s fu<king infuriating! Don’t get me wrong there were plenty of reasons we lost that game and enos didn’t muff a punt Thomas did, he didn’t hand off the read option instead of keep it and walk in the end zone like martell should’ve, and he didn’t miss a chip shot field goal like bubba did. But you better **** well believe his lack of adjustments to protect our tackles and scheme around it cost us that game as well. It’s ****** haunting me why he left them on an island. Smh

Herbstreit mentioned this just as Florida moved their corners up into press coverage after that drive and took some of those opportunities away. But their corners are the best we'll face all year so we should have plenty of chances to help the ol out with those type of plays the rest of the season.

Dang man ... Didn't you witness what we all saw? Our OLine was bullied. If that was our best 5 it doesn't get fixed overnight. The Oline got pushed around and picked on. Real solutions may take awhile or another recruiting class.
 
I came away somewhat encouraged from what I saw from Zion.

Easy solution....Slide Scaithe outside to one tackle and keep someone like Irvin in on passing downs to help Zion from time to time.

Campbell is not ready. How bad must Herbert be if he couldn't beat him out?
 
Hiring Mario as our Oline coach should have been the first thing on Richt's to-do-list after got hired.

Then we should have taken shots over the top and forced them to back off a little. Creating that extra yard for slants and stuff

No doubt, but look at our schedule. Aside from VT (because of Foster not talent) and perhaps FSU there is not DL that is even close to elite or high tier. This OL is not going to win us a championship unless serious changes are made and those may take a while, but these small changes in the meantime should be able to get us to the ACC championship game and win the Coastal.

Coaches always outthinking themselves.

The answers are obvious so often, then game day comes, and we spend the whole game playing head first into our weaknesses because of “philosophy”.
