Early Toledo Thread

Any team that got lit up by Malik Rosier is clown shoes. I expect a lot more 5 db sets on defense than we saw last year. Not a complete stomping but an easy cover.

Our secondary was a mess then. Remember Delaney getting toasted all game long. We have come a long way since then but with an offense like Toledo's, I expect them to still have their moments.

For one I have been consistent on this board all summer. Just as consistent as the Nevada and Fresno boards. It's football fandom. If you don't like it then don't read these things.

I came back last season after the game many times. The main post-Toledo thread had some Miami fans apologizing and praising our offense.

Will be interesting in how we play this team again especially the defense considering last year the team had an altered schedule due to the hurricane
 
Yo Miami hasn’t allowed a passing TD this season. It’s not happening against Toledo either. Y’all going to have to run the ball. We have a great pass defense.

Check the stats on us.

Absolutely. We could get drilled and this game may look like the App State game in 2016. They still got garbage points. Fresno scored a bit on bama last season. Probability is with at least 1 passing TD. Especially because that is the strength of our offense. I'd bet that over a rushing TD.
 
Nothing good comes out of these games:

We blow them out? No one will care.
We win closely? The pressure continues to build.
We lose? ******* implosion.

And it's not like Toledo or the surrounding area is a recruiting ground for us. I think the last Ohio player who started games for us was Alex Gall. I don't get the scheduling of Toledo, App State, etc. on the road at all.

Some of the peeps on here said you split gate at the Hard Rock so these 1 for 1's are a way not to lose money by paying us 500k to play there and be done with us. I'd agree its mostly a lose lose but if you do beat a 10 win Toledo team (like you did last season), it's better than an FCS win. We were a bowl win away from finishing in the top25. Wisconsin's win over FAU was their best win OOC in 2017.
 
Toledo will get a passing TD on us no question, I think Miami wins but their WR duo and their QB(if its the same as last year) are legit. Also their WR are coached by none other than our former WR and WR coach Kevin Beard.

Weren't we losing this game at halftime last year? Let's see if Diaz needs to regroup at halftime again

Mitch G won the starting job and he played the first half in week 1 against VMI. He aired it out fine compared to expectations. He is more of a runner than anyone we have had in recent years. Toledo used 3% of the playbook though, so it's hard to tell if he will be good or just get the job done. We have a frosh 4 star from Tampa who was like the 25th best QB recruit in the country last year. He threw some dimes in the 4th quarter. He will redshirt most likely.

Good analysis. Maybe we ran a FB dive every play and only used .05%.
