Dylan Raiola Enters Portal

Probably the deepest field since portal started. Why do you feel this way?
“The deepest field”?

He took HUGE leaps as a passer in his second year. Too bad his season was cut short by an injury. Through 9 games, his stats were pretty close to Beck's.

Raiola: 2000 yards passing, 72% completion %, 18 TDs 6 INTs. (and technically, he didn't finish his 9th game).
Beck: 2194 passing yards, 73% completion %, 15 TDs, 9 INTs

And Raiola didn't have anywhere close to Beck's offensive team around him.

Raiola was great against Michigan, he outplayed Sorsby, but he looked very pedestrian vs Minnesota. But ****, 1 game out of 9 that he played that he wasn't the better QB on the field.

The concern would be pressures to sack & air yards per attempt coupled with holding the ball to long for those short throws

I agree. But, you obviously know more than I do about this, would that improve behind an offensive line like Miami has, and growing in discipline/maturity to get the ball out?

You saw Beck doing so?
I thought he earned the respect of the locker room early on and was one of our team leaders in 2nd half of season

Did you not?

Mario talked about it in presser today, even mentioned him being at state playoff games with teammates as something that shows that bond.. Idk.. Means something if they like hanging out with the guy I think

Talent is there, needs to drop a few pounds for sure, biggest worry is the locker room, culture…not sure on that but my guess is this staff will not even consider a guy if that doesn’t check that box. As far as scheme for his talent, not 💯 sure there either. Maybe if he’s a bit looser and mobile with the weight loss and strength/ conditioning but a bit of a statue. Really liked this kid in HS, thought he was going to be a hit but honestly, he’s been disappointing. Guess where about to find out.

I haven't watched much Raiola, other than videos mocking him for his Mahomes act so I won't opine on his actual football abilities. The only thing I'll say, it seems like he lacks authenticity, and you wonder if a guy like that can be a leader. Like, do teammates think he's a joke or do they buy into him? I have no idea or insight, but that's what comes to mind for me when you see players that look a little phony.

I don’t know crap, but I don’t see those worry points getting worse. I think he’d do well here
