Only about 30% of that hit the portal find an equivalent match. About 30% more go unsigned the rest go to lower divisions.

As stated, less than half even find a home where they may not even get a scholarship. The percentages includes young men that gave up a scholarship and may have to walk on at a new school.

Some of the student athletes going to their new school will find themselves with less playing time than the school they left from.

For a majority of the student athletes, they should stay put, fight thru adversity, graduate, then think about transfering if they have eligibility. If they stay and fight thru adversity, I would bet most would not wind up in the portal and would say it was their best decision not to enter the portal.

I've reversed my opinion on the 1-time transfer policy. It's great for some teams, but it's hurting most of the student athletes. 98% of student athletes won't play pro sports. By allowing the 1-time transfer, it could ruin a lot of students towards getting their degrees. If the rule were taken away, it would incentivise student athletes to perhaps take a redshirt and focus on graduating early so that they could have 2 years of eligibility under their belt and college degree in their hand (shout out to Gilbert Frierson for graduating).

I would like to see the NCAA track statistics on graduation rates from student athletes that enter the portal and also student loan debt of those same athletes. They should want to factually know how this policy is affecting the outcomes of student athletes.
