DVD’s thoughts on the portal

Wondering if the staff is catching some flack from the locals who are shocked the staff aren’t jumping at bounce backs here
 
F*ck he mean all he really care about is the kids being successful? Your first priority need to be The U! Winning football games and championships. This ain’t amateur sports no more, this is a business. Lets stop acting like its anything else! You want to talk that other sh*t, go on to the HBCU, Subdivisions or Div II and III. Playoff expands to 12. Get yall mind right! Its wolf time Gotdamnit. I dont want to hear no more cliche talk about building men. Save all that for the recruiting trail with the parents.


The aforementioned felt so wrong to write but its how i feel at the moment. Somebody come talk to me, am i trippin? If i am trippin then my baaad.

every year in college is FA now. dvd is right tho about kids w no film. you aren't getting a new nIL deal with no film on you.
 
Not only might you not find a new home, there will be very few that improve their playing situation. By his film comments, he is expressing the reality of the situation. If you don’t have current good highlights; whether due to not playing well or not playing at all, there is a significance chance you will be in the same exact situation at your new destination. Of course, that is a two way street, meaning that you shouldn’t expect many situations where your team will benefit from those come without the “good film.”

WHich is sad for these kids, to lose a scholly that they can take advantage of to better themselves....If you are told to do the research and you do not, then whose fault is it that you made a poor decision? Too many of these kids will end up nowjere, talent wasted, because they were lazy in research and/or lazy on the field.

mental health is far more important than anything else regarding your job stuff. a lot of people are stuck in jobs that degrade their well being. also, in your day, jobs didnt require you to be on call 24/7 (if youre not a doctor and even theyre not on call 247 they have specific days and times) and have your email and phone on you at all times in order to respond to fires at random time. the lines have been crossed in terms of what is work life and what is personal life and people are taking back their lives. work life is a real thing. literally a job is a job. a means to an end. if a random civil lit attorney walked out tomorrow, they'd find another role the next day getting paid more or equal as an example
 
With the portal seemingly exploding further and further, are programs equipped to sort through which candidates they ought to keep an eye on, review film, and do due diligence?

Alonzo should be all over developing a system to identify portal players that can offer immediate help, as well as determining whether there are players who are so talented (but not productive) that maybe you ought to take a chance on.

Almost half these kids won’t find homes. They’re getting bad advice from people who’s supposed to be mature and leading them. They’re young and delusional. It’s too bad most of the people in their lives are yes men or just using them as a meal ticket. It’s got to be a very lonely existence even though there’s so many people around them.
 
From what people have said about him, DVD comes off as a nice, genuine dude. I think he's just giving it to the players straight. If you think about it, some of these 'kids' have been chased by grown men since they were 15. They may think, once they enter the portal, it will be business as usual, with everyone knocking at their door once again. And truthfully, that's only the case for a select few in the portal (maybe more than a few this year lol).

Sometimes young people look at a situation and don't see the full scope of things. Players like Drake Maye, Xavier Worthy, etc.. have been getting poached since their signing day. These guys, for the most part, know where they are headed as the declare.

For guys who be looking to 're-establish' themselves, good luck! I'm actually happy some of these kids are getting introduced to the real world while they have a chance

remember, Zo and Mario brought in a guy from michigan state (CCHS butt brothers) that was a star at michigan st. and recruited a ton of guys from the portal last year. he's leading the department, although this year's volume is "slightly" larger

They went 1-11 last year and 4 wins the year before. What would any coach do in that position when the portal can allow you pretty much flip most of the roster overnight.
