“Me and coach Hetherman have been talking for a long time, going back and forth, but when they offer they want to make sure it’s the right guy, so it took a long time for them to go through the process and evaluate everyone in the linebacker class,” Forkpa told CaneSport. “…I’m fully willing to consider them because the DC was at Minnesota when he offered me, so we still have a little bit of a connection with that.”

“Besides the culture there and how authentic the people are, coach Hetherman has a great defensive mind,” Forkpa said. “His defense is pretty much what I run at IMG, so integrating into that defense would be pretty easy and I could pick it up faster which would help me play faster.”

Gators Online recently reported Florida holds the No. 1 spot for Forkpa after making an aggressive effort for him this spring, although he said he’s hoping to hold off on a decision until this fall.“

What is this LB board? Feel like it’s a mess but at the same time we might just take only one more guy. Idk
I asked this in another thread, but if only 2 play at a time, why take more than 3 in any recruiting class when we are always likely taking 1 portal player every season as well.

With the 3rd LB being transformed in modern football to a 5th DB, it just doesn’t make sense to ever take more than 3 high school player since any recruiting class.

Fair point, but I think with the new scheme + adding competition you should try and take 3, especially when the transfer portal also taketh.

Also a guy like JJ will be playing a similar role to what Toure did at Rutgers, rushing the passer while also playing some off ball. So it’s good to bring another traditional off ball backer.
