Dumbo and QB development

Pretty damning stats. Dude is a fraud.

Outside of Winston his offense is always average to mediocre. Somehow he got nfl teams to draft Christian Ponder and EJ Manuel 1st round but they were basic qbs. I can’t even say overrated because I believe everyone was shocked they went 1st round. Jumbo’s offense is bland and his qbs are average at best.

I can't believe how everyone fell for Jimbo Fischer, including FSU fans. Everyone forgets how much they disliked him before Jameis and how he was on the hot seat before Jameis won them that title. Even then, that team should have had more losses. Miami wasn't very good and should've beaten Jamie's a couple of times. Jimbo sucks

I agree with everything you said except the hot seat. He was never on the hot seat. I think when Jameis became qb that was his third year. They were trending in the right direction but his qbs up until Winston weren’t that impressive. Even Ponder & Manuel. They weren’t spectacular in college.

NFL teams love(d) drafting Jimbo quarterbacks because he runs a very pro style system and apparently being able to take snaps from under center is more important to NFL GMs than actually being able to complete passes. None of his quarterbacks outside or Jamies Winston were particularly great college quarterbacks. Some were decent players but somehow they got drafted in the first round. Not surprisingly, none of them outside of Winston had any success. They weren’t even able to hang around the league as backups for long.

Outside of Winston all his qbs had to have had short nfl careers or they weren’t starting for long. I still can’t believe Ponder went 1st round.

WAT? They got better each year before 2013. It was his cucking in 2015 that did him in

Y’all are the worst 🤦🏾‍♂️. Football fans spare no feelings haha. But they did improve every year. He runs a conservative offense and his defense usually carries the team except for 2013. But his offense is overrated.

Jimbo was definitely on the hot seat before winning the title. They were getting annoyed at FDU. He could recruit, but he wasn't a good coach.

I agree he isn’t a good coach but he wasn’t on the hot seat. The articles you shared are just a couple of fans. They aren’t reputed journalists. Jimbo was the coach in waiting from Bowden. 2013 was his 4th year as HC. 2012 was his 3rd and they just won a bcs bowl and the conference (12 wins). He wasn’t on the hot seat. Especially after only winning 7 games during Bowden last year. Other than that. I agree with everything you said.

Except against Manny it equals 3 Heisman candidates - hopefully this will change this week with Steele and Company.
From the small sample size of Steeles defense I think the scheme itself has been fundamentally sound for the most part. The problem is opposing qb's are looking pretty good due to a minimal pass rush + corners who seemingly can't defend a 50/50 ball. Fix even one of those issues and our defense is dramatically better.

Not only was Dalvin electric but at the college level Leary, Benjamin and Rudolph were all very very good college players that posed issues at that level. Benjamin and rudolph bailed WInston out several times with bad throws. That FSU team could out talent 99% of their schedule during that 2-3 year run

I have to guess we'll see a lot more blitzing game 3 than we have game 1 and game 2 since our 4 man front alone has not been able to put enough pressure.

Rashad Greene was a stud too. Caught 99 balls in 2014. And Bobo Wilson and Kermit Whitfield were very competent collegiate WRs, particularly Bobo.

I think that's why Jimbo is alluring. He can recruit. That's likely at least 65% of the equation. If you can recruit, you can field a pretty **** competent offense even if the Xs and Os are somewhat average.

I'm not saying he would have been fired that season or anything. But people at FSU and fans were definitely questioning Jimbo by the start of that season. Luckily for him he got Jameis and Jameis saved his career, which eventually led to his current ridiculous contract.

I think he's heading towards the same trajectory at ATM. They're seeing he's actually not a very good coach, even with the way he recruits. If he doesn't hit on a gifted offensive player they're going to end up struggling.

I mean we all knew that Derwin James, dalvin cook, and jameis winston and co. Were why they were great but this pretty much confirms it

Oh I agree with that. FSU fans were questioning him. But that’s different than being on the hot seat. They won 12 games the year prior. However, imo he’s definitely on the hot seat now. You don’t lose to App State with a roster full of 4&5 stars and think everything is cool. You’re right about A&M. Too be fair, I personally believe his victory over Bama last year is why he got the benefit of doubt. If they don’t win that game, he comes into the season on the hot seat. However, he won and they still hold out hope that they are close to a title. Is he still over the offense? If so, he needs to relinquish that role and give it to an innovative mind. You point out that he struggles unless he has a gifted offensive player. Dude has 4&5 stars from Texas and all over the US but still struggles. He has the gifted players but he struggles with them.

But He said the same thing at FSU.
