Duke Johnson's gone but UM runners still toting the rock...

Im telling you guys...and no disrespect at all to Duke, Duke was great, one of the best we've had if not the best so far. But with the talent we have in the backfield Duke will barley be missed.

I like Yearby. I think he's got great feet and instincts but man, I just don't see the bonafide bellcow on this roster.

We will have a better rushing attack with Duke gone.

Tap dancing Christ what a ******* ridiculous thing to say. The second dude I quoted is a troll, what's the other guy's excuse?

Pretending losing the program's leading all-time leading rusher won't create a drop off at the position is pretty absurd. "No, no, guys like Duke aren't that talented. We shuffle them in every season."

Duke eclipsed 2,000 total yards. He was 5th in the country in that stat. He was 4th in NCAA football in yards per carry for backs exceeding 240 attempts.

"Whatever, bro, we have a chocolate Bus." Ya'll dumb as fvck.

04.webpI hope y'all are right about this. But on the advice of our great coach, fat Albert, I'm not taking the cheese!

All these dudes look like they're on that old *** 1980's juice called Dianabol. They're all round and bloated looking.

Because losing the All Time leading rusher at RB U always means thing get better? I watched OJ Anderson many time in the OB. Let me tell you something, Duke broke the record of one **** of a RB. A record that so many GREAT Cane RB left untouched. And he did it with a horrible coaching staff and one season ending injury. We will have a good running attack this year, but the implication that it will be better WITH Duke gone smells like it is made by one of Al's family members.

Duke was great he did what he had to do....he had great numbers in ****** games and ran decent against good teams..the best running back performance in the last 5 years was Dallas Crawford at UNC....he took over the game. it was a ****** UNC ( I think 0-5) but Dallas with 1/5 the talent ran with heart and conviction.
Duke is gone we cant do a **** thing about that... but we are in good shape

Glad I'm not the only one that caught that. Here I was thinking it was a positive because it means more fresh legs late in games. Glad he clarified it for me. It means more than one. Thanks, Coley.
It’s going to be really interesting. And to be honest with you, the term committee is kind of positive because it means you have more than one.”

No **** you ****ing ******

Man get out of here with that... Every game we won last year was because of Duke... And if Duke didn't get hurt against UNC it would not have been close... Please do not diminish the guys accomplishment at the U... Oh yea Duke was averaging like 10 yards a carry against UNC before his injury... Crawford was decent averaging like 4 yards a carry... He did well but Duke probably would have gotten 300 yards that game... I'm sorry but I can't stand how some people on this board is trying to minimize the production of the departed players... We will take a major step back this year... No committee is going to replace Duke, no one will replace DP, we don't have anyone to replace Walford... These guys will be sorely missed and maybe some of you will appreciate them then... We can support the team without taking subtle shots at the departed players... But ai don't care if we have Kaaya, he's not good enough to offset the losses... I can't believe we have people minimizing the accomplishments of Duke... Was he the best back? No but he was definitely a great one...

Why can't you believe it? This site is infested with trolls (some of whom are from the Hecht) whose sole purpose here is to be shills for the staff. They will do or say anything to back the staff. They will even trash one of the best RBs to play at Miami

The good news is that once we inevitably implode, they will disappear from here and cease posting.

I think Duke was great...and injuries did slow him down, I must apologize that I am old school and like kids that play for 4 years like Denzel did..I wish Duke the best and will watch the Browns just for him. But this team is not slowing down due to one player never has never will. When Lamar left we were done too remember then a kid named Duke took over..

Yeah because no one knew that Duke was going to be as good as he was. Him taking over for Lamar is totally the same thing as Gus and Yearby taking over...

Exactly. Duke was an outstanding back, one of the best in our history. But that doesn't mean that Yearby, Gus, and Walton (and possibly even Choc) can't step up individually or as a squad and do a great job. People just dismiss Yearby as if he were some 2-star scrub from North Dakota that we picked up at the last minute. The kids was one of the top RB recruits in the nation. RB is the least of our worries. OL experience, and LB depth is what I'm most concerned about.

oh yeah, I remember that. I recall "highly respected" posters on the board claiming that Brock was the goods because unlike Dorsey, he could "make all the throws".

People on here expecting Gray to do something will be sorely disappointed. Kid is at least a year away from doing anything significant. Let's hope he's a STs contributor this year. Otherwise, he won't see the field.

so you are writing off two 4 star RBs from south FL....that Bama, Fl, FSU all wanted....

Okay...Gus I will give you but Walton and Joey can handle running the ball....Duke had some stud Olineman too keep that in mind. I think 4 are in the NFL

I don't think Yearby is quite the talent that Duke was, though I'd love it if he turned out to be. However, our overall RB situation may be better this year than last. Yearby proved himself to be quite talented last year as a backup despite still recovering from a recent injury. This year he is bigger, stronger, and more experienced. Gus Edwards is more experienced and from all accounts, in better shape than last year, though as a backup last year he had decent numbers. Gray may or may not play a role, but compared to last year he is likely better. We now have Walton in the mix as well. Last year, behind Duke was a younger, weaker, not fully healed Yearby, a less experienced Gus, a Gray who didn't have a grasp of the offense or the RB position, and Crawford, a gutsy but far from spectacular jack-of-all-trades.

While our starting RB may be a slight step down, the starting RB isn't the only one that gets carries, and we are in better shape behind the starting RB than we've been in a few years.
