Berea, Ohio -- Running backs Duke Johnson and Terrance West remained sidelined at Browns training camp Sunday after suffering injuries in practice on Saturday, the first day in pads.
Billy Winn, who was carted off Saturday with what appeared to be a serious knee injury, has been diagnosed with a sprained ankle and will be evaluated on a week-to-week basis. He's listed with a knee/ankle injury, but a team spokesman said the ankle is more of an issue.
Johnson, the third-round pick out of Miami, suffered a hamstring injury on a running drill in 11-on-11s, and West came up limping with a calf injury about 15 minutes later. Coach Mike Pettine later said that Johnson could be out a bit but that West might be back by Tuesday.
In addition rookie running back Luke Lundy left practice Sunday with a concussion.
In addition to those three, running back Glenn Winston is still idle with his knee injury. That leaves Isaiah Crowell and Shaun Draughn to divide up most of the reps.
The injuries have given third-year back Draughn a chance to prove he deserves a roster spot. Draughn, signed by the Browns as free agent last December and re-signed in March, has been churning out yards and catching passes out of the backfield.
"He is (earning more snaps),'' said coach Mike Pettine. "He is a quiet kid and that's how he is on the field. He just does his job. There is not a lot of flash there. Like a lot of guys, he very quietly fills the grade sheet with pluses."
Browns first-year defensive back Brandon Stephens also sat out practice Sunday after suffering a hamstring injury Saturday.
Some veterans getting the day off Sunday include cornerback Tramon Williams, safety Donte Whitner and defensive lineman Randy Starks.
Offensive lineman Vinston Painter left Sunday's sessions with a neck injury.
