DUKE (2-1) - VAG TECH (2-1)

There's a good young coach on their defensive staff I'd love to replace Banda with in Matt Guerrieri (he's like 31), their co-dc and safeties coach (give him both titles here). He's paid his dues working his way up the past 7 years at Duke (last two as Co-DC) and (after tonight) they should be roughly in the top 40 in both scoring and total defense this year. He's had some draft picks and a Thorpe semi-finalist already as a safeties coach.

Two years ago they were ranked 21 in scoring and total d at the end of the year. He does a great job coaching and recruiting given the immense restrictions he has being at Duke and coaching in a power 5 conference. And I thought they (so far) have played Alabama the toughest on defense so far this year (they were in the game until the third quarter).

Sure did. That 2017 team busted their nut vs ND and they haven't been seen since. 2017 ND was basically our New Year's Bowlgame that year.

There is not one guy on this team right now that I can point to and say for certain they are the indisputable top dog; the guy who builds a hot campfire under some asses for lazy effort in practice or in the game. Normally a QB would assume that role but Jarren is just trying to learn the ropes--hopefully he'll get there. Quarterman? Coach says so but a 20-30 year old Canes team that missed the 4th and 17 or failed to break up a pass on a go route is going to get the Alpha in their face afterwards. None of that is happening.

Someone will eventually lead this team (that isn't a coach) The leadership void gets filled eventually.
And yet we still won the coastal. This schedule was set up well for Manny to win it. 3 first year coaches, one of which should have been a revenge game against the coach that fired him mid season who by the way was starting a true freshmen QB, GT AND Louisville all have first year coaches, we have VT who is down at home, UVA at home, FSU that is a dumpster fire, we play 9 out of 12 games in the state of Florida.....

At that schedule if I was looking to make an impact (if I had a competent staff)

Put on your objectivity hat for a moment and you would also consider this glaring problem with the argument that this year should have been something special--inexperienced underclassmen. It's a big, and often underlooked, problem on our offense. Against an average team--our line will get man-handled. Everyone is right; CMU should have been a blowout but inexperience (player and coaching) is a big part of why it wasn't. You're right, the ACC is terrible but expectations on a young team were too high. Part of that is on Manny talking up a program but managing hype falls on each of us too. At some point each individual fan is responsible for some amount of expectations they adopt.

I'm no where close to wanting to blow up the program. I think we have something special brewing in Miami over the next three years and beyond. Look at that roster. Folks are negative about these Canes lately (and I get that in a rebuilding year) but this is some good **** to look forward to. Nearly all of these young men with another year under Feeley's nutrition/strength and conditioning program and a season of experience under their belt--the future is looking bright. The offense has been trouble for years. Finally, we're going to have some continuity with JR's and a couple SO's holding the line for Williams next year.

How do you want your embarrassing loss, fam?

Every one of them has a better staff than us. This is not going to be fun...

Remember that anonymous ACC coaches article where someone said Manny Diaz is all gimmicks? I'm pretty **** sure that was Bronco. The guy just has no respect for Manny. Goes back to the BYU-Texas days. I'm not joking when I say he's looking to run it up on him. Yes, their QB sucks but we have a knack for making them look all world.

Not that it makes a difference bc the atmosphere at Wallace is always trash, but right after thanksgiving it should be completely dead. Maybe if the game means something students will show back up

No matter how good Duke is the stadium is rarely full. Doesn’t matter they will probably beat us .

I look at this objectively. UNC starting a true freshmen with a new coach should have been a win. VT should be a win. UVA should be a loss as they are undefeated at this point and favored to win the coastal. We SHOULD win out the rest of the schedule except for toss ups against FSU (toss up bc it's a rivalry game at their place), @ Pitt and @ Duke.

The winner of the coastal should have at least two conference losses. With a competent coaching staff this team would have at the most two conference losses. Unfortunately, it does not appear we have that. With a good coaching staff we would run the table.
