Unfortunately, I think this is true. It seems like big programs have enough money to retain starters, but retaining talented backups with potential has become increasingly difficult. For anyone who doesn’t think this can’t happen to us, go luck at what’s happened to Texas (yes, Texas), Ohio State, Alabama, and now Phil Knight’s Oregon. Kids don’t want to wait to play anymore and will go get starter money elsewhere.
