Not going to muck up this thread with stuff but I leave with this. FSUs DL didn't look great either, they are full of 5*. Sometimes a system makes guys look worse then they should.

It has been said a few times, that our 2 gap system is not very inviting to DT's because they are glorified blockers 50% of the time, which no elite DT wants to be. Not to mention recruits who are naturally built for a 2 gap system aren't generally considered elite but most likely are 2* or 3* kids who are massive and extremely strong with long arms. Then the players generally need at least a year of S&C to develop into solid contributors. If you notice the visitors list from last had very DT's on it but a ton of skill players, yet on the field there is a glaring need for both improved dline quality and coaching. When you have players on your roster that are upper classmen who merely take up roster space that is a program development problem.

Jelani Hamilton should have been shown the wisdom of transferring, but he is ST Thomas Aquinas guy so UM can't push him out.

Corey King should have been driven over to FIU/FAU by a UM sponsored Limousine three years ago he is the team strongest player in the weight room but can't translate that into on field strength.

Earl Moore was dropped by FSU during his senior year recruitment for a reason, he has short arms but is very strong like Cory King but his short arms inhibit Moore's ability to shed blocks or prevent blockers from getting into his body. Also Earl Moore's connection with Hillsboro HS recruiting helped with landing 2015 QB D Lawson ( who will be a good one at UM).

An now Michael Wyche is starting to look like he may be a low football IQ type that lacks discipline, which would be to bad given the opportunity infront of him.

So that is 3 or 4 DT's on the depth chart that UM missed on badly, which puts stress on the Two deep rotation that should be a 4 deep rotation.

FSU DL was overrated and got exposed last night. I think we do need to do a better job at recruiting DT's who fit our scheme, but I am also convinced that we didnt miss out on much when I seen our PATCHWORK OL straight up stoned their Defensive front.

I wouldn't say stoned they shut down the run in the second half which is why we should have stayed aggressive

Outside of the elite DT's it takes a really good evaluators eye to find those DT's with big potential or big DE's that can be eventually moved to DT. Equally important is to develop the guys and have a scheme they can excel in. These happen to be qualities Ol Al lacks and will never have.

We need to get rid of Jethro. Our DL has no moves at all. They do no ripping or anything to get players off them. Straight arm wrestling

That is what they are taught to do , and what two gapping requires. You can't rip arm an go because then you leave a gap open, instead you have shed your man by throwing him out of the way our , using hand to hand you swipe the blockers arms off of you. This is why you need very strong Players with long arms to extend their reach.

Here are two videos that outline UM's dline philosophy and Techniques within the current 2- gap system taught by Al Golden, D'onofrio, and Jethro Franklin.

Anyone we should be bringing for this next class? Any can't miss kids?

FSU's defense has been underachieving all year. Their DC will probably be replaced at the end of the year. They should be much better at the line with the amount of talent they accumulated.

That being said, I don't know why DTs don't want to play for Golden. Maybe they see what they would be doing and simply don't want to do it for 3 or 4 years. Hopefully that changes as this defense has gotten more aggressive.

It's not even the fact that we can't get the big time stud DT's.

The problem is that we can't seem to get our hands on the RIGHT DT's for this scheme.

The 6'4 330 pound dude with crazy long arms.

Was watching 'Bama and Miss St. and Bama **** near had offensive linemen on D. The ends were 6'5-6'6 and 320 to 330 with crazy wingspans.

Ufomba is honestly the type of player that we need to attract.

I'm excited about Anthony Moten's potential after he gets an offseason under his belt, but WE NEED MORE.
