DTs and Jackson update - Tuesday 11PM

Mike jack just announced he’s returning

It’s funny that kids announce they are staying that have zero chance of probably getting drafted.

You are bananas if you think Michael Jackson was going undrafted.

Look at the kids metrics. He was an elite CB this season. He had games where QBs were better off throwing the balls into the stands then throwing at MJ.

I'm not sure how he would have tested, but I'd wager money if he were drafted, it'd be no later then Round 4, and that'd be with an average or worse combine. If he had a lights out combine, Round 2 corner. He's very good. Some teams would have even seen him as a safety, which increases value for many teams that like to play nickel more.

Yep.

Jackson would have gone higher than either RJ or Norton. Next year he's going to have a lot of name recognition so Rd 1 is a legit possibility.

Smart business decision

LOL at the morons on this board. We KNEW THESE 2 WERE GONE ALL YEAR . WE ARE LOADED AT DL STILL. Not super deep but super talented still.

Everything in football is about depth. You saw what happened when Richards and Herndon went out. There was a significant drop off in offensive production. We are one Gerald Willis or Jon Ford injury away from teams being able to run for 150+ per game on us. We need both to return to have good enough depth to contend for a national title next season.

plus Willis is undersized to play, especially vs run heavy teams, and Ford hasn't proven anything. He wasnt even overly productive in highschool, but people here think he'll make a big impact..

Willis is 285. Can easily be 295 by time the season starts.

he's 280 and is already 4 years out of highschool.... and although i trust Richt's statement of him balling on the scout team, he hasnt done anything in college

The main point is still the same. He hasn't proven much on Saturdays and he has a history. While I desperately want to just chalk him up as a bad *** starting DT for next year, we cannot sit back and rely on him. Even if we could, losing McIntosh and Norton is a huge blow that can only be rectified for next year with top notch JUCO or transfer assistance.

I just wish this thread would go away. I click on the last page everyday praying there is an update on those two stating at least one changed his mind.

When heathy he was our most productive dt even in a reserve role but according to you he’s hasn’t done much?.... get out of here. Plus he’s in playing shape as he’s been dominating the first team oline all fall

We passed on the Mcdougle kid at DT out of Deerfield last year and he was freshman AA at WVU this year. Would have came here in a heartbeat. We passed on Davoan Hawkins and the Dumervil kid at STA because we felt good about Goldwire and then they signed early both would have flipped.

Staff killed themself with incompetence and blind faith. Take away Kools opportunity to be the sole recruiter at DL. He’s too picky on offers and can’t land the kids he does offer. Shouldn’t have took until November to offer Chatfield and everyone else knew that. We offer 6 months ago like he deserved and he’s already committed and signed. Now who knows..,

We also shouldn’t be waiting until December to offer everyone else like Carson, the juco DE we just offered, etc. Identify the alternatives early and offer them. You change your mind or get someone better and the other is committed drop them and be up front about it. Alabama, Georgia, FSU, can do it we should be able to

I agree with all of this^^

Spot on mjackson6

McDougle was a real gut-punch. Kid can play, did well against South FL comp.

If you think about the kids WVU recruits, they evaluate pretty well.

Always skeptical of a player from S. Florida who signs at WVU, majority of the time its grade issues. Not saying this is the case as I dont follow recruiting (yes I know, i shouldnt speak on what I dont know of) seriously. Also, i know its revisionist history but 247 had him ranked as the #929 best prospect and 63 best DT prospect.
Good for him for outplaying his perceived rank

On that last point, that's where I am coming from. They have a knack for finding players that outperform their rankings bigly. Remember, they were on Harley way early, then he blew up at our camp and we were having to run from behind.

Aaron Donald is 284lbs. You can be an undersized attacking 3tech, and extremely successful. Especially in college

Based on what I was just told, Norton and McIntosh will inform Miami coaches tomorrow that they are headed to the draft.
It appears that your source was not correct. Over joyed that they are probably staying. Maybe look for a more reliable source for future information.

You too? Lol... I thought I was the only person who did that. Too much crying for me. We'll be fine regardless. Although this year surprised us all, and the future is indeed bright, still believe we are 2 years (at least) from showing the full potential of the current staff. Let's enjoy the ride.

nah he wouldnt have went higher than either one but all 3 would've been drafted by the 3rd round, 4th at the latest.
