DTs and Jackson update - Tuesday 11PM

Anyone who wants Jackson to leave needs their head examined.

I personally think Jackson stock is as high as its going to go. Would be a smart biz move to make the jump, but I appreciate that he is betting he can go higher.

Norton and Macs decisions are shortsighted and foolish. They are going to go in later rounds and late round guys don't have the luxury of time to improve or benefit of doubt to make the 53 man roster. Once they become practice squad all stars, that's generally where they will stay. 1-3 rounders will normally make the roster if borderline because of team's investment. Both should come back and try to improve draft stock. This is Kaaya level dumb.

I heard Pete say R.J. got decent grades (2nd to 3rd-4th round). How did Norton grade out (can't imagine it was above 4)?

He may go 5th to 6th just cuz you get a "grade" doesn't guarantee your draft position it's a projection

Norton may not even get drafted

Who is advising these kids I don't know

Same posters that say these kids live on the streets. Fully aware that there are some guys that their families are totally reliant on them and that they actually have to take care of their families (ala Artie Burns). I've said it before and I'll say it again. Going early to the NFL to make a few hundred thousand (potentially) then phase out after a year is not wise just to be a late round draft pick.

Coming back for your senior season can actually help, especially on D-line where you have another year in a S&C program and improve your tape.

Seems like Miami's the only school that deals with an influx of kids that want to go pro right away regardless of the tape that proves that they should go back for their senior years.

Good thing we have weak schedule next year outside of a few games

Just looking at the roster and recruiting class, we're going to be equal to or better than the 2017 at every position except DL. DL will keep us fro realistically having a shot at Clemson. Otherwise, I see a 10 win season just based on the schedule

I feel like more and more ppl just use the university for their own personal gains and agendas. Just imagine what could've happened if we would've went all the way this year.

I don't. Our D-line was the reason for the defense's success. We'd now be relying on other units to take significant leaps and bounds next season. Sure, QB play could be a realistic drastic improvement, as will o-line. But defensive line is the staple for just about every top defense in the country. With Norton and McIntosh leaving, we don't have quality DT depth.

Meanwhile the only position we haven’t signed a single player... DT

I got more excited about DL recruiting under the last staff... and those years ****** sucked

This team really had me fooled, thought they were building something special towards next year when in reality a quarter of them were counting the days before the end of the season to leave. All momentum is lost at the moment, hope the staff has something up their sleeves or back to 8-4 we go....thanks for the info Pete, as unfortunate as it may be.

Get your **** together man. Our starting defensive line will be better than any team’s in our division. And overall, our top line talent will be among the top ten in the country and better than any team in the ACC not named Clemson. Smh at 8-4. We just made the ACCCG with a limp wristed dirt baller at QB. But, yeah, we’re going to regress big time because three defensive linemen who did absolutely nothing but get their **** pushed in during our three losses are leaving the team. Defensive tackle depth is scary and needs to be fixed if we want to compete for national championships in 2019 and beyond. But we’re not losing 4 games next year because of our defensive line.

Still banking so hard on Willis to contribute is risky.

Too late to convince big hoss Fines to stay?

Our defensive line was our best unit this year. That's what carried us to 10 wins and a spot in the ACCCG. Not Rosier.

Be prepared for this:

DE

Joe Jackson
Demetrius Jackson
Jonathan Garvin
Scott Patchan
Gregory Rousseau
Andrew Chatfield

DT

Gerald Willis
Jon Ford
Pat Bethel
Nesta Silvera
Tyreic Martin
Tre Johnson (moved from OL)

I can live with that setup next season. We just can't afford ANY injuries!

Little chance of that

This is the Florida diva mentality for you.

Couple of 3-stars out of high school. Then the local fanboys pump their egos up, and have everyone believing they're a couple of first-rounders. Draft advisory board comes along, brings everyone back down to earth. Advises them to stay in school, get a degree.

Players proceed to get their **** pushed in by a bunch of 3-star white boys from Wisconsin on their biggest stage of the year.

Does any of that matter? Nah. Florida diva players ignore the draft advisory, enter the draft anyway, and get picked in the 5th round.

But hey man, they gotta "feed the fam," right?

SMH if I'm being real... it's hard to root for some of these kids. I always will because they're Canes, but some of them make it hard to.

so frustrating. Tired of losing underclassmen that are mid-round draft prospects at best. Truth is , we needed these 2 dudes to stay AND we needed 2 more DT's in this recruiting class. Looks like neither will happen. On top of that, we now appear to have an issue at DE that just popped up as well. 2019 Dline depth chart is going to be so green and light in the ***. Definite set back to our rise back to the top.

**** these guys. Norton will be scrubbing toilets in three years.

Average idiot in here, lives with their parents or 4 other losers and has credit card debt on foolish purchases, but a guy about to be paid in the nfl for a few seasons will be scrubbing toilets?
ok

You couldn't be more wrong about where I live champ and your commentary about getting paid for a few NFL seasons shows you are either really young or poor.

His $500k signing bonus after taxes, agent fees, accounting fees, nutritionist, etc will net him about $300k assuming that he doesn't buy a single thing.

It is a MORONIC decision to leave early to be drafted in the later rounds.

contract values.webp

Until we start reloading and stop rebuilding, this will be tough. Bama, Clemson, and even FSU reload on the dline and can afford guys leaving early. We are almost there. We are pretty much there at DE but need more DT.
