According to the USC scout site - Kevin Scott signed with USC - OL recruit Clayton Johnson agreed to gray shirt for a year in order to make room for Kevin Scott.

Really glad Al, Jethro and Mark spent so much time out in Cali to completely strike out. Great job Brennan

He Clayton Johnson is blue shirting not grey shirting this way he can both play for USC this year and be on scholarship but yet not count until 2016.

Imagine Al trying to get a S.Fla high school kid to grayshirt just so we could ink another highly touted player. That's something that would never happen in a million years.
 
Honestly I rather them spend time an effort in the dc- md- va region than the time they spend in ca. Like I want them to go all in on that tidewater area very year, those Cali kids don't fit in over here plus they ain't coming this far. DMV area is an open market for recruiting. Well I thought they had Marcus Lewis this cycle they just really need to hunker down n ditch Cali, it pays no dividends unless it for a qb. And we waste a lot of resources, Brennan ain't got no pull out there and hethro is a waste of time

Actually blue shirting wold work quite well in south Florida for miami becuase of the access to local talent, a coaching staff just needs to know how to use it. Keep in mind the recuit can still come into UM on time and on scholarship and they can play that fall as well. The only thing they don't get is the hype of being officially recruited by Miami and they can't receive a LOI, they just have to accept a scholarship aid package.
