DT Calijah Kancey Will Make Decision Before The Season, Still Waits On Miami Offer

I suppose I could see 4 for the right 4th kid. But you can't allocate 5 slots out of 25-27 when you have so many other needs to fill. And, IMHO, the coaches should back-pocket at 2-3 spots in case we have a playoff-type year and we get a post-bowl rush from recruits. So unless that 4th is at the very top of their wish list, I don't expect more than one more verbal until after the season is over.

You need 27 to get this:
2 WR
2 RBs
1 QB
5 OL
2 TE
5 DBs (2 S, 2 CB, 1 Nickle)
3 LBs
3 DEs
4 DTs

4 DTs

of that list...IF it's the right 5...If. And you are talking about 27....I'd take the 5th dt over the 5th OL and 2nd WR IF we are talking about an equal player...And think it's a toss-up with the 2nd RB, 2nd TE, or 5th DT.

I think 4 is the slight favorite to be the number of DT in this class...3 isn't a disappointment and almost as likely, 5 would be a little bit of a surprise.

If we assume this as absolute, definite (And I Think it's safe) minimum...1 rb/1 qb (rumors they may pass, which I honestly can't see)/3 OL/1 TE/ 3 DT/3 DE/3 LB/4 DB. That's 19...I'd rate the next 6 spots like this according to need: 4th DE/4th OL/4th DT/2nd TE/2nd RB/2nd WR/4th LB/5th DB (possibly an interchangeable WR/DB like richards, and also worth noting the S/LB is coming blurred with how we often we seem to be using a striker)

then in terms of stacking or if you get into numbers 26 and 27-- I'd go 5th DT/5th OL/6th DB/3rd WR...Obviously you take a 3rd RB if Sanders wants in. These are basically the +1 spots. I just think is the year you hit the trenches, especially the defensive line, heavy. JMO

Can't argue with any of your logic, Skeeter. I suppose I'd rather wait to see who the 4th DE vs. 4 DT is, and whether or not Miller is as good as the staff thinks he is. Either way, I think more than 7 DL is overloading for one class, would be very surprised if we do that.

WR: I agree that we don't really need more than 1 WR. But Dugans seems to be hunting for a second. Maybe that's just a backup plan in case we have a Mullins situation this season. If we stick with only Payton, my guess is they'd just as soon keep the extra spot for 2020 as opposed to offering an 8th DL.

OL: 4 is enough numbers-wise. But I think we'll keep throwing bodies at the line until we find 3 rotatable tackles. Like at WR, I think the staff would store the scholarship for 2020 if they take 4 vs. 5.

QB: They would be insane to take 0 QB. It's a given that whoever is #3 of the 3 remaining on roster after Rosier graduates will transfer. And it's very possible both Perry and Wedlon transfer if Williams ends up the starter.

RB: Crowley already in the class. We don't really need more, but there's no way they're not taking McIntosh. So 2 is the minimum. Like you said, they may even take 3 if Sanders wants in.

You dont offer every kid in the off season just because they will commit. We still have to play our season out we win 11 12 games guess what more 4 and 5 star kids will want to play for us but no we wasted all our scholarships on three stars during the off season. You let the kids know u interested in them recruit the enough to keep the on the hook and once your 4 and 5 start players make they choice u then offer the three star.

The staff has been linked to quite a few 4/5 star guys. They must know that we don’t have a legit shot (or they are overrated and like other guys better) with them that we are taking commits elsewhere. This staff has proven they can identify guys early before they blow up so the fact they are taking Good and in all likelihood Brownlee over some local 4 star guys I’m fine with.

And we aren’t in a scholarship crunch yet so if we do ball out and some top guys want to come, they’ll make room. We just can’t get left at the alter this year else we will have major depth issues (DT, DE, even CB to an extent). We can always drop guys as well if they don’t progress.

When you drop guys you destroy the pipeline at those high schools for future players

Ya, stacking at WR and RB unecessarily is dumb in SFL. There is always talent available that can majorly contribute as freshmen. We need to build seniority on both lines. Taking a big class and redshirting some big uglies is ideal. Obviously we'll never have Big 10 type seniority on the lines but we need something. D Jackson is the only guy i can recall the last 5 years on either line that contributed significantly as a redshirt senior. I'm sure i'm missing someone but you get the point. (not counting Dwillis)

Moten contributed well last season.

add to it yall forgetting the Fort Myers kids. I think Munoz took his offer.

Bruh...I think you nailed this one. One of my buddies who at the camp basically said the same thing. They had one spot available for one of those camp evaluations at DT and Munoz grabbed the brass ring.

I think the Fort Myers kids evaluations are still getting effected by the hurricane last year. Not many people got out to see games, the film was slow to trickle in because everyone had huge gaps in play, and a lot of the focus was on the seniors to get them evaluated, etc. The underclassmen gotta work the camps to get back in people's line of sight. Sounds weird, but makes sense with what I've heard from people that are out that way.

Could be...But on a side note both of these Ft. Myers cats are flaky as ****.

For those that don't know Skeeter is referring to 2019 SDE Quashon Fuller from LeHigh Acres (FSU Commit) and 2019 SDE Derrick Hunter from Dunbar HS in Ft Myers ( UM decommit). An with as flaky as the FT Myers duo are acting I would say if Miami some how misses 2019 DT Tyler Davis from Apopka, FL I would say give DT Jalar Holley from Buford, GA the green light jump on board with Surge19 an commit to Miami.

Go Canes
