How is IU even negotiating already? Not sure im buying high level talks are occurring for QBs with portal not even open. But then again, Cignetti is a special breed so he may be deep into this portal stuff with a game days away. I hope we are doing our due diligence We cant have a prolonged search for QB
I doubt its the head coach sitting around having negotiations with player.

There are agents, family, program recruiting personnel, boosters, etc. A lot of 3rd parties are having these talks now without a doubt. Nobody is sitting around waiting to start conversations once the portal opens, its happening now. Just not the head coach.

UNT head coach left for Ok St. and UNT hired a new coach already, any UNT players are officially in the portal and don't have to wait until the portal opens up.

hard to imagine he turned down $3.5M to go to the #1 ranked school that just turned Mendoza into a top 5 potential pick. not buying that headline
You can't believe any social media posts in college football these days. A large majority are nothing more than clickbait.

This particular social media "insider" is same guy who tricked Deion Sanders into thinking Cam Rising was out 6-8 weeks for a seriously infected hand laceration, prompting Sanders to wish him well on X. It was all fake.

i'll also point on that mestemaker and bailey are the same age ... bailey has produced at a higher level against higher level athletes ... mestamaker is gonna be good, but this idea that he's head and shoulders ahead of bailey based on analytic stats in nasty work ... believe the film and factor in better offensive line and weapons ... this ain't rocket science

The guys has been a starting QB one full season in his life and you guys want to bet the house on him 😂😂😂😂.

He never was the starter in high school was a back up QB and the starting safety. He had to walk on at North Texas, I’m just not ready to risk this programs growth and momentum on a one hit wonder.

CJ won in high school and he has won on a bad NC State team. This really seems like a no brained if deciding between the two.

The thing thay scares me about Mestemaker is the system he was in. If you look back at their QBs, they've all put up great stats.

Austin Aune (2022): 3,547 yards and 33 tds

Chandler Rodgers (2023): 3,382 yards and 29 tds (+4 rushing tds). Transferred to Cal and couldn't even win starting job.

Chandler Morris (2024): 3,774 yards and 31 tds (+4 rushing tds). Couldn't cut it at OU and TCU before UNT, and then went to UVA after UNT. Threw 3k yards and 16 tds only.

I understand Mestemaker had better production and was a freshman. But it is a factor to consider that UNT is a very pass friendly system.

He is the QB equivalent of hiring Billy Napier as your head coach. Let's go bet the farm of G5 Andy.
