Drew Mestemaker

Porsters love to trash everyone but I don’t think there’s a clear number one in this year’s portal class. There’s no Cam or Carson. Everyone has flaws.

Mestemaker is my number one choice. High upside, and would be a two-year starter. I wouldn’t mind going into 2027 knowing who the starting quarterback was going to be. Especially if his game elevates to another level. Then maybe we’ll see those elite five star wide receivers signing on instead of choosing other programs.

Coleman and Nickel can develop behind him if they choose to stay.

Offensively it’s so bad . Which I told friends to expect this because I was such a big Cam supporter. He’s in one of worse situations you’ll find for a rookie. Too bad teams don’t build their franchises the right way inside out . You wouldn’t see as many qb’s being wasted. The Bengals being another one. They built the team like a fantasy football team. Paying two wr’s that type money is insane . The teams that win consistently do it by building the trenches working their way out.
Dolphins did the same thing with waddle and hill, need to pay more attention the OL.

I think Sorsby and Leavitt are unlikely at this point, which means the likely 3 QBs we are in on are Mestemaker, Raiola, and Bailey.

I’d 100% go for Mestemaker first. Raiola has major concerns but ultimately the ceiling is higher. Bailey is the fallback option imo.
Couldn’t disagree more

Absolutely should be #1 target. Best passer of the portal QBs, and while he's no Lamar Jackson out there, he's a lot more mobile than Beck.

Pay him whatever it takes.

I agree. Mestamaker seems highly capable of running point in our system. 70% completions with an average of 9.9 per/att is nothing to be dismissive of.

He has grown on me quite a bit. Our team is built for a guy like him to thrive, especially with the trajectory of our team and Fletcher coming back. Another positive, is he's on board for at least two seasons.

Beck wasn't even #1, a lot of posters didn't want him. He was not even #1 by experts IIRC
