Drew Mestemaker

Idk if i'd put Jim Harbaugh on here cause he doesn't exactly work directly with QBs.

But yeah this list is good imo. Shane Steichen maybe?

This is why I don't agree with Tua taking all the blame cause McDaniels is also a dog**** HC but I digress
Tua deserves most of the blame IMHO because he is not a good QB. Small QBs have limited shelf life. He was injury prone and never very good to begin with and is now on the decline. He has a weak arm (that is getting weaker), is petrified of contact, and struggles badly with zone coverage.

I am no McD stan, but Tua had a sub 90 passer rating when McD arrived. Tua then proceeded to pass for 8k yards in McD's first two seasons, leading the league in passer rating in one year and yards the next (with a passer rating over 100 for 3 straight years). That is borderline miracle work with a QB like Tua.

Absolutely cannot argue against his production. He was in an Air Raid system and threw intermediate routes with accuracy. Perfect fit for Dawson like Bailey and Pat Mahomes 2.

Can CJ Bailey cut down on the INT? Can Mestemaker translate to P4? These are the unknowns. Pat Mahomes 2 probably the least concern

The fact that Morris runs an Air Raid might make him more interested in going somewhere else if he has NFL aspirations. I don't think NFL GMs value Air Raid QBs as much as they do QBs who play in a more pro style offense. Question is who will be replacing Dawson as I thought he was going to be the HC at Tulane? Mestemaker could use a good QB coach and an good OC.... hey what's Ken Dorsey up to?

I think Sorsby and Leavitt are unlikely at this point, which means the likely 3 QBs we are in on are Mestemaker, Raiola, and Bailey.

I’d 100% go for Mestemaker first. Raiola has major concerns but ultimately the ceiling is higher. Bailey is the fallback option imo.
I don’t know if we are actually in it for Mestemaker if for no other reason than there are too many other connections out there. I think it will be between Raiola and Bailey and I think we end up with Bailey.

I’m gonna assume you mean with mechanics
I don't see it that way.

Tannehill was incredibly robotic and deliberate in his delivery, leading to a lot of batted balls.

Mestemaker just holds the ball really low, more so like Rodgers does at times...but his trigger is quick. His batted balls are due to a lower release point, not his robotic/slow release.

With two All-Pro WRs.

If other HCs can get constant production with multiple QBs, than McDaniel should be able to still get constant production from Tua or the other QBs they've had as backups. The film got out on his offense and he's never adapted.

He’s a bigger guy (6’4, 220).

He walked on to a D1 program as an athlete (Safety) and pushed his way into the field.

He’s produced in a full season as the starter (RFr) in a system similar to what Miami runs.

Works the middle of the field very well (moves DB’s with his eyes) and makes fast and good decisions.

What’s not to like about this guy?
