Drew Mestemaker

I’m just curious, why do you trust Dawson’s endorsement when he can’t even evaluate or develop his own **** quarterbacks
It's a fair question and I love that you always bring the heat! At the moment, Dawson is the one who we have to trust until such a time as he moves on or is shown the door.

Did you see some of cam wards games at wasu? Fumbling and throwing pics?

Context my man. USF is a damm good team and north Texas is dog water and is only where they are now because of him.

UNT has some other good players for a g5 team. Mestemaker's athletic talent is 100% noticed. I also like that he is playing in a very similar offense to Dawson's, assuming Dawson is here in 2026. This offense also makes it easier on QBs and I believe Dawson could add more QB runs with Drew than Ward or Beck.

Cam Ward's WASU games, ouch!

I'm good with anyone who has real game snaps and prefer P2/P4 QBs over G5. Sellers, Levitt, Mensah, CJ,...

I see your point, but at some point someone has to realize that these prerequisites that we place on talent is just bullsht.
From level of comp to mechanics nobody knows sht.
Josh Allen, Mahomes, Brady, mayfield. Dudes that a bunch of people passed over or played against bad comp.
Allen tried reaching out to p4 coaches and they didn’t even respond to him. That’s why he ended up at Wyoming.

This dude can ball. The talent imo isn’t the issue. It’s the stage.
There is literally no pressure where he’s at. And no one is going expect of him to beat a ranked p4 team.
But what happens when all that expectation is played at a big stage and he’s expected to beat those teams?
IMO that’s the reason why Mario went with Beck. He knew we had some big games and the moment wouldn’t bother him.
But imo players that produce don’t let that bother them. He’s been on so many tv and sports shows and he’s still ballin.

Last thing you want is for morris to be hired by fspoo and he takes him along.

If you liked the Louisville game with beck you'll probably see at least two of those with him next year.

Step up in competition and seeing more taller dline who know they can bat the ball down at minimum… if he’s cheap sure might be worth it when we can reallocate funds to a premium pass rusher to pair with Lightfoot and plug and play LB to play with Wiley & popo.
He’s not gonna be cheap and will end up on a frontrunner who’s gonna pay him a ton of money.

UNT could end up in the CFP this year so he will have a ton of eyeballs on him. If he jumps and doesn't jump to Morris' next spot, his NIL is likely going to be near Mensah's.

Good for him then we don’t have to keep paying the “suck tax” when you show you can surround people with quality Oline and weapons to get you ready for the next level

If Morris goes to OKst, that's actually imo not the type of program I'd automatically see Mestemaker following him to. That seems like a MAJOR rebuild with legit zero funding. Though he could be loyal to Morris obviously...

JKS would be my #1 right now. Mestemaker probably #2 out of 2yr guys.

But if we are going for a high floor 1yr guy I'm hoping it's someone who is great off schedule and at making **** happen late in plays BUT also has a low INT%. If Sorsby is a "playmaker" he's probably the perfect target. Has extremely low negative play rate (low int%, twp%, AND P2S%). But generally he hasn't had a huh explosive play rate. I mean at worst I'd think he's on par with Beck tbh, but idk how good he really is off schedule... If he's good in that department I'd just say go all in on him asap tbh.
Yeah
OSU is dead
T Boone Pickens would love NIL era but he didn’t live to see it!!!

Miami fans talking about Morris like he should come here to be OC or QB coach shouldn’t be allowed to post about football

If Mario retired tomorrow I’d be taking a look at him for our HC job so yeah definitely interested to see how his offseason plays out
I like Morris as well. He is a brilliant offensive mind and a proven QB coach and developer of QBs.

I think the thought process with those who you mentioned above that want him to come be our OC believe that since he has only been a head coach at below the P4 level, that he could come here and be AHC/OC/QB. He made 1.4 million this season at N Texas and we could possibly pay him up to 2M or maybe more(Mike Denbrock at ND makes 2.1 million). The thought is that coming here in that role would raise his profile and potentially make him a national name therefore giving him an opportunity at higher paying more prestigious head coaching positions than what he would have if he stayed at North Texas as head coach. It would also give him invaluable experience and a first hand look at running a big time P4 program.

It's not such a pipe dream when you think about it and could be a great move for him. There is precedent for a move like this and Mario has tried to do the same thing with Jason Candle, the HC at Toledo. I certainly don't think that it's likely to happen but it's at least an intriguing idea.

Morris coming here in the above role of AHC/Offense/QB with Mario taking more of a CEO role and focusing on Recruiting/Offensive Line/Program Infrastructure with Corey Hetherman at DC would be such a savage move and would put us back in the role of being innovators.

Then I woke up!(Hey! A guy can dream can't he?)

I think he’s definitely a take, same as JKS. I don’t know if either will be available to us.

If his head coach leaves for an another job, he might likely follow him.

If Dante Moore declares for the draft, it wouldn’t surprise me if JKS transferred to Oregon. If I recall correctly he was originally committed there until Dante Moore arrived from UCLA. He may even transferred from Oregon to Cal. He is also supposed to have a pretty sizable NIL deal at Cal.

Difference is, most of these ding dongs knew that was the case with Beck.

I'm more referring to the ****y arm strength decision making that most of these dweebs were complaining about Cam with lol
Funny part is, I wasn't even referring to Beck.

But it still applies...

Guessing you didnt watch Bailey last weekend? Or against ND? Or against Duke?
Bailey playing against actual comp… and not G5 comp. If you’re telling me one dude can be “better” with a better supporting cast I’ll choose the dude whose playing legit competition.

Kinda like Cam looked good at Wazzu.. got behind our oline and some weapons and became a #1 overall pick.
