Down to Fedora and Applewhite according to BJ and Lauzin

It amazes me how many dumb fans there are that can't distinguish the difference between a head coach and an offensive coordinator. Nick Saban sure doesn't have a problem hiring failed head coaches to run his offense. I could also give two ***** who my offensive coordinator hired on his defensive staff as a head coach, especially when that same head coach hired Kendall Briles who this board was salivating for not even a month ago. Fedora or Applewhite would both be excellent hires. Pence or Coley as QB coach would also be excellent hires. As would adding Tee Martin or Seider/Irvin as position coaches.

If look at the top 15 qbs for 2020, half of them are already committed. Qb market is tough and we need someone whose qbs have both college and NFL success.

Then why did he struggle to land QBs? **** one year he took a 0 star QB. CIS would meltdown if that happen here

He got qbs just not the right ones after trubisky. Finding and landing good qbs is not easy, especially at UNC

Additionally, it’s easy to attack Fedora’s failures due to how long he has coached. However, Applewhite’s qb recruiting, evaluation, and development skills are pretty unknown in comparison.

He had success with Greg Ward and D’Eriq King, two qbs who do not match the skill set of our qb room. Will he be able to have the same success before recruiting his qb of the future?

One year after Herman left, he hired briles to run his offense and brought in a new oline coach. Herman had a bring part in establishing the physicality up front that paved the way for Houston’s offensive success in 2015-2016.

Applewhite did a **** of a job calling plays during that timespan, but there is a lot of uncertainty around him IMO.

Applewhite is another guy who Diaz already coached with and is a little younger than Diaz. Didn’t we just run into a problem with MAR hiring former colleagues who don’t elevate the standard?

The defensive staff is already young and green (CFB exp) and I’d like Fedora’s experience to challenge possible groupthink.

Main thing about Fedora is his lack of recruiting. But I do prefer his offense over Applewhite.

What people aren't saying is that as an ex collegiate QB, he could/would work with our QBs, Fedora couldn't do that.
 
Fedora makes 12 million for the next 4 years wether he coaches or not.All he has to do is provide his best efforts finding a job to keep that money based on his contract.His agent has him rumoured to be hired for any job opening ;Miami,FSU ,OSU,and now Temple.I do not think he has the fire in his belly with all that money in his pocket and his age to recruit and coach.In addition he can tell anybody to F Off the minute he gets ****ed.Great OC but not the right intangibles.

Mario went through the same **** at FIU and he didn't have a fraction of the talent Fedora had at UNC, plus Mario brought us a couple of titles as a player, but yall dog him on a daily basis and defend this ******* Fedora ? Same with Randy. Yall know UM didn't give that man **** to work with yet yall trash him anyways. Well good luck with the FSU cuban...

Personally as I’ve done more research I think Applewhite offense might fit a bit better in Miami than fedora. Tom Herman when he hired Major Applewhite taught him his offense quickly before the 2015 season, he learned and mastered it and they went 13-1 that year. Loved watching their offense those 2 years Herman was there and they showed up against the big name teams. Applewhite would run a tom Herman Ohio state/houston2015/2016 like offense which is pretty **** exciting to think about with our players.

Not sure how groupthink comes into play considering Applewhite has been a head coach himself and is on the other side of the ball. He's also not a protege of Manny. Richt hired guys who owed everything to him. Applewhite doesn't fit that profile. Throw in that he's worked with two national title winning coaches and another who won as a coordinator he probably is gonna have plenty of his own ideas.

He is a good recruiter and has those Texas ties y'all know I've been wanting for a while. We would get Texas QBs and maybe Texas O-linemen.

With Baker on board that gives us Louisiana ties (Something I also wanted) then you already have Simpson who has Georgia ties and has been recruiting the north east pretty well too.

My thing with Apple is his choice in coaches. Apple hiring No'D and Paul Williams gives me bubble guts. If he isn't given the choice to bring guys in then I'm all for him TBH.

Applewhite has about the most modern/aggressive/innovative playbook in cfb today. He's got the Texas playbook that won a Natty back in the day as his base. It's been updated with Herman's concepts that won a Natty. He also can update it even more now that he's worked with Briles for a year.
 
Applewhite would help us when we play the likes of Fsu because he know Briles and what he runs..Also like someone else said he would have more fire in his belly because he has no guaranteed money

both are great and immediate flight risks, brin gin a qb coach that can take the reighns witthin 2 years
