Dorito's Defense

In terms of playing the exact way we do, Washington's defense lines up similarly.

They do have three All-Americans though in Shaq Thompson, Danny Shelton, and Hau'oli Kikaha.

USC, LSU, and Stanford run 3-4's also and have had success. We need some NT's not the DT's the staff has recruited since their arrival.

LSU runs a 4-3

Forget all the X's and O's. It's irrelevant. We could line up in a 46 Bear front and get shredded. The bottom line is this defense sucks because the underlying philosophy behind it is an extremely risk averse one. The mentality of the coaches implementing and calling the defense is to play not to lose. They are coached NOT to make anything happen and then hope the offense makes a mistake.

If you really take a close look you will notice this same loser philosophy on offense just to a somewhat lesser degree. For example consider the infatuation with the bubble screen. It is a relatively low risk play that gets the ball into a playmakers hands but puts tbe onus on the player to make a great play. Our coaches rarely seem comfortable dictating terms by design. They are happy to find the safest way to get the ball in the playmakers hands and hope he "breaks it". Again it's playing as safe as possible and NOT trying to make things happen on offense but hoping the defense makes a mistake.

I can honestly say that in all my years watching the Hurricanes that Al Golden's brand of football is the most dull, bland and utterly uninspired garbage that I have ever seen. I have no idea why anyone would want to play this type of boring and pathetic football for a lame duck, loser like Folden. F**k my life F**k Golden F**k this staff F**k Donna and F**k the POS BOT!

I thought this was actually a really smart and thought out post, until the final paragraph.

Sometimes my emotions get the best of me. I tend to wear them on my sleeve. Having said that I thank you for the half compliment and apologize for offending your delicate sensibilities.

I've watched a lot of football over the past 20 years or so, and I don't recall ever seeing the frog stance that Dorito and Co. teach the DL. Since they've been running this **** at Miami, I actively look for other DL to see their stances. College, pros, arena, high school, lingerie bowl, you name it, and I have only seen one other team with their DT's in this stance. One. If it works so well, how come no one else is doing it?

**** golden. **** Dorito.

Did anyone ever find a team that runs the same style 3-4 and it working?

Couldn't find older posts about this topic.

Since Golden is coming back for 2015 ... figured I'd just accept it, and try to figure out how our defense is supposed to work.

From what I can tell ... the idea is lock up with the o-line and free up the LBs to make plays. I guess you need like Ray Lewis and Suggs for it to work though.
The only team that runs the same defense that I have seen is the Philadelphia Eagles. Their d like does the same hold and look techniques and the LB make all the plays and it is terrible just like our defense. The scheme just sucks and it doesn't take advantage of the players strengths. The Pats,Ravens, and Chiefs 3-4's are like very aggressive and it's a nightmare on teams when everyone is coming. We will always be bad on defense against good opponents with this defense.

None of those teams play patty cake. They attack.

Said the same thing earlier.

You can't separate who someone is from what they do. There is no substance to this team because there is no substance to Al.

Agreed.
