This article has to be a joke, right? Those quotes make it seem like we've made some huge jump to a powerhouse defense that is attributable to him being on the sidelines. Don't people realize how much our defense is underachieving? I can't take it anymore.

Oh, my bad, I read SMD's headline as "D'Onofrio Pounded" and figured some Pedo State stuff with buddies Mark and Ole' Jer would provide historical context.

He gave up 500 yards last weekend grounded. Doesn't matter where this natural disaster coaches.

If it wasn't crushing my entire soul every single week it would be hilarious how rigid these dudes are that they 're constantly rearranging deck chairs on the titanic. I've never seen someone able to so obliviously target insignificant crap week after week as the culprit of all that ails them and it's horrendously impressive in a way.

LMAO man this is pitiful. My GOD if I was the media I would probably have lost my credentials and been fired for not producing stories by now.

First question that I would have asked is "If I'm not mistaken, you started out on the sideline, correct?"

This dude was on the sidelines the first 2 yrs. Then, we heard oh, Doritos is going to the booth! Now he will see the whole field. That was the last 2 yrs. Now, he's back on the sidelines, glad they haven't tried that yet. INSANITY.

THIS!!!! x 1000000....

do they think we forget why he "went to the booth" in the first place? B/c our defense sucked when he was on the sidelines given up the most yards/points in the history of the program. Then he was moved to the booth so he could "see" the whole field, given his a distinct advantage in making the necessary adjustments to sure up our defense. Welp, that didn't work...so now he's back on the sidelines b/c of communication issues?? Is that why we gave up 384 in the first half and 500+ against FSU? Could've sworn he was on the sideline at that time. Could be just me, though.

I guess I am confused. Thought he was on the sideline flipping pages, then last week Al sent him to the booth. And wasn't this a tactic Al used a couple years ago it effort to show "change"?

“In previous years we weren’t always on the same page,” Gaines said. “This defense is definitely more together. We really understand the vision of what we’re trying to do. That’s why we fly around a little better.”
Miami lists itself as a 4-3, but a bulkier Porter, along with Pierre and Chickillo at ends, will allow Miami to play a 3-4. Defensive coordinator Mark D’Onofrio said he will use multiple fronts. In a 4-3, senior Shayon Green (6-3, 264) will start at end opposite Chickillo.
On third down, the exuberant Muhammad and sophomore Tyriq McCord will be the key pass-rushers. Coaches believe Chickillo, Perryman, Green and recent transfer David Gilbert can get to the backfield, which last season was like foreign land.
“I think we’re trying a lot of guys and creating competition,” said D’Onofrio, who will call plays from the booth this season instead of the sideline. “I’m excited about seeing where we’re at with that group.”
At linebacker, Gaines and Perryman will play next to either freshman Alex Figueroa or junior Thurston Armbrister, who have tussled for the strong-side linebacker spot all month. The expected secondary starters are Jenkins, Howard, Gunter and junior Kacy Rodgers II, with Bush expected to earn a starting role once he recovers from offseason surgery.
As freshmen, they might have tried too hard to make game-changing plays. There will be less freelancing this year.
“We’re smarter,” Jenkins said. “We know the game now. We’re not young anymore.”

I'm sure the banner guys would be happy to skip a week and drag Doritos behind the plane instead so he can get a really great view of the field.
