After watching the plays of him at OG during the FSU game Ive seen enough. Move him back inside where he can maul. Brandon Washington was All-ACC as a sophomore at OG in 2010 and then Folden and company moved him to OT. It never clicked for him, he vented his frustration to the media and then forgo his senior season just to get drafted in the 6th round. and now he has bounced back and forth from CFL and NFL. Don't let that happen to my man Donaldson. Move him back to guard full time, let him beast out. top 3 round draft pick.

The problem is, both washington and donald wanted to play tackle and may have asked. The difference with donald, this staff wasnt trying to put donald at tackle until they had no choice, cause nobody else stepped up, now that scaife is emerging, he'll be back their soon enuff, be it this year or next.

We got a competent staff, to many people criticizing coach richt these days, let that man coach and manage this team, and give him time. The o-line is gone be official soon enuff by the time davis, lingard and crowley take full control.

Wilson got the better of him a few times early on when he moved to guard. I wonder if he's been getting reps at RG or if this was a panic move by Searels.

In this case, I don't think it was the coach's decision to move him to OT. He wanted to give it a try, and this was the first week that he was actually exposed. I hope he does move back to OG full time.

Really need another young tackle to emerge for depth. Hopefully Campbell can be that guy. Herbert has been MIA since he got here.

Those kids know that playing Tackle is an investment in their future, as that's where the money comes from, especially St Louis. I mean the move made sense, we had a void, St Louis played the position in HS...

We tried it but it didn't work out, and the though Donaldson was awesome at Guard, with St Louis' move, it was simply a domino effect.

Donaldson is just doing it because coach asked him to...

St Louis knows that protecting the blindside is where the $$ are in the NFL. But he needs to realize, trash film at LT will get him totally looked over. He's better off being a star at RT, than to suck at LT.

Glad its going to work out for Donaldson with him going back inside.

I'm very disappointed with Herbert
Why?

He is a true sophomore and will probably redshirt this year. He is getting time to heal up and develop. Shoulder injuries and being a good trench players don't usually go together. Shoulders also take a long time to heal and get the strength back, especially given what he is trying to do with said shoulder. If the dude is a ghost next year, sure start to question, but lets let him get healthy and have a fair shake at it.

Doesn't matter who we put at RT if Searles is gonna insist on the OTs first step being lateral.

"First step lateral" may be fine if you're playing a tight 5-Tech, but when you're playing Wide-9 like Burns was playing, the Tackles are gonna get beat all day.

TSL doesn't do that "first step lateral" bull$h!t, and He's holding His own.

This.

Also - people tend to forget that it's not the norm for OL to play as Freshmen or even Sophomores. I know there are teams that get kids that can do that...****, we've had luck with Donaldson/Scaife as of late being able to do that, but for the most part - those dudes need to develop their technical skills a bit more, get bigger/stronger in the S&C programs, and then slot into a spot around RS Sophomore/Junior/Senior seasons.

If Herbert isn't playing at least in the rotation for us at one of the T (or even G) spots by next season, then get worried. If he's not in the rotation any after next season - he was likely a missed eval and/or didn't develop as expected...and those happen on the OL everywhere.
