Anyone else get the feeling that Miami football will never be back......EVER?

in 10 years miami will have dropped football due to the admin refusing to make changes and spend money and fans giving up. its gonna happen by 2025.

We got a chance if we switch to division 3

what smoke? trully what smoke? ask yourself where is the smoke?

Hecht is quiet - ummm it is Xmas break

Golden's nowhere to be seen - ummm he is enjoying xmas and new years in Breckenridge or Banff or the Catskills, who knows

Everyone that is tied to the program in any real way has said AG returns as coach next year.

Every major, true journalistic (ok most in South Florida are s-hi-t-e) source has said all they are hearing is that AG is returning.

Evey piece of information that has started this silliness has come from some pseudo-internet-wannabe blogger/message board personality/friend of an uncle who pitched a baseball game on Wednesday night sometime in the 1993 somewhere in Coral Gables/posters and people so embittered by the state of the program that if the corn in their ***** is whole it must mean Al is going/complete mental incompetents stating opinions that have no basis in any reality.

Al Golden is returning, the BOT have given no indication if they are disappointed, mildly uncaring, or completely fine with the direction of football program, a new president is coming in next year, UM's season was over more than a week ago, academic performance of the football team is at an all time high.

Do not fall for the sorcery, do not believe the crapola, the majority of fans want AG gone, he very well may be gone next year without dramatic improvement. However, there has been not one shred of concrete, real evidence, piece of information, or even indication that AG is cleaning out his desk. Are there likely staff negotiations, very possibly so. Is AG going to be fired, or step down a week after Xmas, multiple years left on his contract, a new president coming aboard in a few months, because some disgruntled parent and a few flippant teenagers tweeted that they are not coming anymore? Please. Multimillionaire stewards of the University of Miami's direction do not care about loud mommies of oft-injured tailbacks, high schoolers that have never been laid, been to war, passed a bar exam, or replaced a kidney on an operating table, and certainly not of an inflammatory, largely cretinous fan base that may or may not have even gone to college, let alone the one they espouse as their U.

Please listen to the smarter posters on this board, many have already told you that nothing will happen THIS YEAR. Change is afoot but it is being carried out by intelligent people who do not engage in public stonings of flawed football coaches. Committees will be organized, searches will be conducted, telephone calls will be made, all in due time. Miami has been average for over a decade, another year of 6,7,or 8 wins ill not bother anyone that matters.

And please get a grip with the 65 year old Butch Davis who left in infamy returning on white horse to fence off the state of Miami. Honestly, and I know much more than you can imagine on the singular, PARTICULAR point.....Butch Davis will never coach at the University of Miami again. He is not, and will not be considered. Anyone that brings up Butch Davis seriously (beyond that you like him) is a moron and completely out of touch with the powers-that-be. Enjoy the Under Armor game this evening, enjoy the National Championship game in a few days, enjoy the possible ascendance of Kaaya, enjoy the Spring Game, enjoy a decent-ish season, reconvene in this thread in 353 days and then, and only then, will you have something of substance to talk about. Until then, go have a tug, or a glass of Brunello, but stop hoping for something that is NOT even being discussed at the present time.

I agree that nothing will happen.

I disagree with the insinuation that the "multimillionaire stewards," aka university leadership, has any clue whatsoever what they're doing, or has any sort of track record of successful decision making that should inspire any sort of trust whatsoever with the general public.

Look no further than the hires of Coker, Shannon, and Golden for proof. To whom should we attribute these colossal goofups if not to these "multimillionaire stewards" you seem to regard so highly? LOL please. These clowns are incompetent, have proven their incompetence time and again, and many of us don't mind saying so.

While they **** around for 353 days forming committees or whatever other nonsense you say they are doing, we will lose an entire year of recruiting, making it that much more unlikely we ever catch up to our instate rivals on the field.

These stewards of the university..... they are 100% to blame for the situation they are in. If they want to cry about the negativity and press surrounding them at present, they should know that they brought it on themselves via their negligence and incompetence.

So to anyone who wants to put up billboards embarrassing the university, or to anyone who wants to boycott the businesses owned by the board of trustees.... I say bravo. Count me in.

Hit these ******** and keep on hitting them. I promise you, they feel it.

Well you make a few good points. You also let your emotional fragility get in the way - this is something most people have trouble with. Of course they have royally screwed the pooch with the football program for almost 15 years now. However, in almost every other aspect that "stewards of the university" are responsible for - they have, of course, performed exceedingly well. It is an exciting time to be a part of the University of Miami. Fund raising is sky high, academic prestige continues to grow, scientific and medical achievements are unparalleled in the university's history. The campus looks great. There is a palpable buzz in the business school that just reaks of postive energy. The Latin American studies department is doing some historic work on insurgent and guerrilla movements in the Southern Hemispheric cone. Exciting , exciting times for the UM community - and I think the administration, the BOT, the student body, the intellectual community, and others have done a fantastic job. If you were a student at UM and were able to complete your degree, you know that most of what you say is indolent and languid and lacks perspicaciousness. In fact, anyone who argues that that UM's stewards "do not know what they are doing" are "incompetent" and "have lost trust of the general public" , and uses something as trivial as the befuddling of the footbally program as their own reference point, is, for all intents and purposes, completely unable to look at the University as an academic institution objectively, and perhaps more likely, simply does not understand what a university is and really should not be allowed anywhere near one except to trim the grass.

Oh look, another pompous **** telling other alums where their priorities need to be. Doing real well with controlling costs and managing our debt in regards to the med school. Exciting times indeed! Nothing like financing big buildings with money you can't repay, then hiring a bunch of employees to fill those positions at a place you can't already pay for by offering lucrative, unfeasible pensions and benefit packages. Exciting times indeed! The biggest revenue grosser by a mile is struggling to stay solvent, which is impacting the school's credit rating, cash reserves and tuition costs. Exciting time indeed!

Oh look, another lowest common denominator who engages in lazy debate, by pointing out a single data point to reinforce an untenable position and then providing evidence of a singular point in an effort to discredit the multitudinous examples that go against her world view. Look, I can do it too:

Yes, indeed, these are exciting times to be a part of the UM academic and public affairs community. I am sorry your life is so devoid of success whereby you cannot recognize that your university (maybe?) is in good hands, heading in the right direction, and is finally known for many things other than simply having a good football team. Exciting, you ask? You betcha, and they will be with or without the $30 "U" hat you buy every few years.

OCF?

LOL at this thread. Secret meetings of BOT members, coach in place... Eh oh el... The glory days were a decade ago, hope you recorded some of those games or have acces to 31Spooner's YouTube account.

"There is no buzz around the business school, undergraduate or graduate. It's barely a top 100 program"

University of Miami is a top 50 university (undergrad) in the country lol

It's number 48....tied with PSU and UFag. A whole 12 spot improvement over 15 years. Meanwhile football is completely destroyed.

That does sound exactly like something that ornery condescending prick would say. Good call.

I think football in the U just died. Unbelievable this guy is still here...
