Don't Blame Coley

Maybe you mean the blame shouldn't stop at Coley. But, surely he can be criticized for not successfully doing his job well.

Coley is the worst OC that I've ever seen call a game.

Uh... Patrick Nix?

This.

THIS, AGAIN!!!!
Nix was worse. Even though Coley calls plays like he's ADD or got tourette syndrome or some ****. I mean, is the dude actually watching the **** games or is he just blindly picking plays out of a grab bag? All that said, he's still better than Nix. Well then again, Nix did have HORRID QB's to work with.

Canes please step back from the table. You are openly arguing whether or not our current OC is better or worse than Patrick Nix...Patrick Nix. Is there really a win in that argument? Surely that would be a pyrrhic victory.

Coley worse than nix, because he has more talent over the time he has been here then nix did.

Yes it's different flavors of suck.

Relieve him of his duty but keep him on staff as lead recruiter. Get him a front office job, but keep him away from OC. Heck, pay him more $$ to stay away from calling plays. He reminds me of a guy who had a vision of being a pilot, gets aboard a plane, and day dreams of being the hero and landing the plane safely...but then he realize he know **** about flying. Well, he knows **** about play calling and it's that time he wakes up from his day dream b4 we crash and burn

Exactly. Pat Nix left Miami to coach WRs at Charleston Southern. Charleston Southern. His next stop after being fired from that school was high school coach where he remains. If you are an oc and your name is mentioned with or compared to Pat Nix, then you are one of the worst oc's in the history of the sport.

Honestly i dont know what happened with coley, his play calling wasnt that bad last year, now its just sh¡t

Negged for this. Coley's play calling was just as bad last year, but less conservative. People are too busy trying to place the blame on Morris and the players, and ignore the fact that maybe Coley is failing the players. You take a bad playcaller and the deficiencies of the player are magnified.

Not necessarily a complete analysis. A significant portion of what has helped Coach Coley rise to his current position is his ability to recruit. Pat Nix was not even really interested in recruiting. So, if he doesn't succeed here, will Coley land somewhere? For sure. He has connections to the most fertile recruiting ground in the entire country. He's also personable and has leadership attributes. Nix didn't and ended up falling off. The comparison as play callers or OCs is another thing altogether.

27 offensive possessions.

7 punts
7 turnovers (downs, int, fumble)
2 missed fgs (special teams)
2 end of half/game.

1 drive with double digit plays FAMU. 1 Sustained 9 play 88yrd (Lville)

That's 1 horrible opponent and 1 middling opponent. With some real defenses on the horizon.

I'll blame Pricko Suave if I want to. I've got visual evidence that he coordinates an offense that can't convert on 3rd down but 13% of the time...which is freaking horrid. We have a guy running this offense who doesn't plan things out to make life easier on his Freshman QB. We've got a guy who tips his hand on the type of play he's calling by the formation he runs (Spread 4-wide? Passing. QB under center with 2 TE's? Running).

Why not run from the Spread even a little bit? Or throw more passes from the Single Back/I Formations? These are all foreign ideas to Pricko Suave. Also, I'm convinced that he only knows/likes one running play (zone stretch)...and we don't run that play worth two *****. It requires a quicker/stronger OL, and we can't do it. The only time it gets yardage is when Duke makes a special play by cutting it back...and we can't afford to depend on him to do that against better defenses (see Louisville).

So again--GFY. I can blame Pricko Suave for plenty. I don't care how or why he got the job--it's his. If he doesn't do it, then fvck him.

Great analysis. Those are troubling statistics.

That and the 3 of 23 in 3rd down conversions is a terrible sign of things to come with the offense this season. If Coley and Golden aren't working on fixing this RIGHT NOW, we have the wrong coaches.
