To start this topic off, let me state that I am not a supporter of Golden. I wish to see him out of here and a new head coach for next year. However, a lot of info has circulated stating Golden may get the chance to fire D'Onofrio and save his seat for one more year. So instead of bashing the administration, Golden, Dorito, etc. I just want a topic where we legitimately discuss potential DC's to come here next year. This is not a topic of what HC we need to bring in or anything else. This is purely DC talk only. So let's pretend that Golden fires Dorito and gives the next DC free reign on defense with no interaction.

So with that being said, I truly think Muschamp is going to be gone from UF after this year and I think as bad as a HC as he is, I'd wouldn't mind seeing him as the DC. He can't lead a team, but he sure can get some really good defenses. I think with him being fired more than likely, Miami would have a legit shot at landing him.

There is literally zero point to this thread, because Al will not fire Dorito, even to save his own job. Take that to the bank. Even if he did, this is his defense. So if you really want to play this game, find out the DCs that run this passive, bull-crap, 2gap 3-4 or whatever the **** it is.

I have no doubt he would try to get Al Groh.
 
We are perfectly fine with Doritos. The NCAA cloud will pass in 10 years.

In a normal situation I agree but, we are talking about an incompetent administration here.

I don't see Golden getting canned unless we miss out on a bowl game.

So let's see. If he's back there will be staff changes on defense.
 
I see him taking a position coach and giving him the opportunity to be DC. Either T.Rob from Florida, Bo Davis from Bama or Chris Rumph from Texas.
 
Jim Leavitt. However, he's an SOB and I don't think Gulden would ever hire a guy that could threaten his HC position.

It won't take much to threaten his Head coaching position. Any competent coach that can at the minimum use the roster correctly would make Al look stupid.
 
Unless Al surrenders everything about the defense, it will not matter. This is very much like the defense the shower lovers used to beat Vinny and our boys in that nightmare. It was the high point of psu history. JJ was to suborn to just keep giving the ball to Highsmith or we would have 6 NCs. We would be ripping for 8 and 10 against the shower defense and then JJ would have to let Vinny pass. PSU just dropped 8 all game and waited for mistake. That is Al's defense. Only thing is any coach with some patience will just keep taking the 8 yards. By the way, is was actually Johnny Majors at TN who came up with that defense. Joe Pa stole it. Problem is we are not playing those old Cane teams and Vinny. THe chumps we lose to are more than happy to take the 8 yards.

Schiano is not taking a coordinator job. Al gets praised for winning 9 games in the mac but Schiano turned Rutgers into a minor power in the big east and his last job was an NFL HC no way in **** he ever works for Al.

If the university won't hire butch, they won't hire Leavitt as a DC.

If we hire Al Grohl, I will smash every tv I own and renounce all sports.

No DC worth a **** wants a job for a dead man walking. Assuming Al doesn't get fired, which is contrary to both logic and sound management, Al will be lucky to hire an up an coming talent who is willing to gamble on Al not getting **** canned next year.

Thats why I say he will give a position coach the opportunity to step up and be DC.
 
No but Ole' Miss thought enough of him to make him the Head Coach, last year he steps in as Interim Head Coach and leads USC to 6-2 record going to 2-1 against Top 25 opponents... He's won 2 National Championships here at Miami under Dennis Ericksson, an amazing recruiter and most importantly he brings a toughness missing with this team...
