Dolphins announce move of Aug 25 preseason game to Orlando

ESPN would have a field day with the "Lack of facilities" talk. We'd hear more jokes about our new, on campus stadium than you can imagine. No thanks.
Greentree gets my vote! Let us play one freaking game on campus!!! We can only dream...

We should just move it to Orlando too. Test out our fan base up there. We're playing UF there in a few years.

Fugg it traz powell no way we lose there

Be a little like the old days at the OB. Badge of courage just getting to the game. There are many things like a slow ride down NW 27 ave to pucker you up. I remember getting the best ribs ever from dude with roadside grill just down the road from MDJC.

This is a bit worrisome. They're playing it off as some kind of Disney sports complex hype garbage but I'm concerned. Maybe they're just hedging their bets. I hope.

They may be hedging their bets... however since the Citrus Bowl was renovated, the ownership group has been pushing hard for any kind of football action there, so this is likely a big factor. They did snag the Pro Bowl, the upcoming UM-UF game, and they are trying to get FSU games, Bucs, Jags, basically as many events as they can get.

the company that has the naming rights of the citrus bowl, is south florida native Marcus Lemonas (sp?) the guy from those CNBC shows on running businesses. He is the guy that made the video last year about UM needing to get an on campus stadium. Maybe something to do with it as well.

Smack dab in the middle of the crossroads of Bucs and Jaguars fanbase. Can't imagine they will need the capacity unless the Falcons fanbase wants to do the Disney.

Official statement from the Dolphins is the preseason game in Orlando has nothing to do with renovations. Stadium is still set to be done by August 25th

C.Y.A.!!!

What a total load of unmitigated equine excrement. I'm sure they suddenly decided out of the blue to make the sort of decision that is usually made a year or more in advance. They went through all the logistical hassles associated with a late move like this just because they like Disney.

My guess is that we end up at Marlins Stadium for the 9/3 game, which won't sit well for some of us.

Just host a Pac Jam Reunion in the parking lot and it will become a world famous tradition.

Yes, the dolphins just randomly decided they would rather deal with the logistical nightmare of moving the game rather than take their 1st opportunity to showoff their newly completed 400 million dollar renovation.

Why even put out a ridiculous statement like that. I hate people

Supposedly, the NFL asked the Dolphins to move the game there since the pro bowl will be there... maybe a logistics excercise for the NFL, or stadium?? Just word on the streets.... NFL moving Dolphins-Falcons preseason game to Orlando also | ProFootballTalk
That makes no sense at all.

All those jerkoffs are trying to insult everyone's intelligence with this fckery. Everyone with at least a partially functioning brain knows they made this contingency plan because they don't know if their stadium will be ready on Aug 25.

The statement is total and complete füčkery by the Dolphins, and insults the intelligence of people even with subpar mental faculties.

I'm to believe that at the last minute, the NFL asked the dolphins to move a preseason game to Orlando. Something that would cost a significant amount of money, not counting whatever refunds are going to have to be given to those ticketholders the can't make the trip. Sure. Makes perfect sense.

How about this: the build schedule is tight, there's significant risk that the stadium might not be ready in time for the Atlanta preseason game. So the Dolphins ask the NFL for a reach around, so that the Dolphins can say they're just doing it to please the NFL, and tell the lie that it has nothing to do with the stadium, and it has nothing to do with the stadium build schedule

They think we're idiots.

I'd be willing to bet that the NFL was asked by the Dolphins to cover their asses by making it seem the Orlando request came from the NFL.

Remember what the NFL is. An association of team owners with a commissioner that answers only to the owners of the teams. The "NFL" will generally do whatever the owners ask

The "NFL" is the owners. So it's not surprising that all of their actions are geared toward protecting the owners. It's a fcking sham. The whole thing right down to that windsock Goodell, who just does whatever the owners tell him to do, and tries to portray himself as some independent governor.

What would happen if the stadiums not done in time for the season? Do we move to Marlins Park formerly the Orange Bowl?

Actually, I for one hope that there is a delay, at least until our 2nd game. That way, the first game ever played at the renovated stadium, will be a Canes game. The Canes get to pop dat cherry!
