Does Richt generally talk so glowingly about his teams?

I think part of the reason for optimism is this is the first time Richt has had a player as versatile as TOOLBOX

So our back seven....We might be starting three true freshman linebackers, one grad transfer CB, one CB with no starting experience who was a plan C offer who we beat Louisville out for, a safety with a history of injury who lacks physicality and another safety with questionable instincts.

Any offensive coordinator worth a **** will rip holes in that defense, I'm sorry to say. I think we should keep our expectations in check, and hope for a great recruiting class to fill in some of the holes

And still we will beat your Seminoles this year. It's been a while, but the college football universe is falling back to its natural order.

That being said, I'm glad you guys had some success. The big brother always feels some pride when the little brother does well.

If my being real russles some fragile people around here, that's 100 percent on you. Delusion isn't my thing - I prefer facts. I'm perfectly happy losing a couple games this year knowing that we're thin, as long as we recruit well and as long as we do what it takes to build a championship team for the future

I'm gonna go to the games and cheer and be thrilled if they look like Miami and play aggressive.

I want to win a ship in the next 5 years. I'm not foolish enough to think it's gonna happen this year with our current roster.

if AL can win 8 or 9 then richt should win 10 or 11 no problem. there is not an unwinnable game on our schedule.

Real talk Notre Dame overrated.

Probably. But a good coach will always garner respect

Brian Kelly is **** good. They did lose a lot tho. Smith, Martin, Prosise, Fuller, their TE, their #2 WR, & Stanley. That's off the top of the dome.

We shall see. Dude is a beast tho. You cant even expect much dropoff. Itll be a good win for us no matter what.

I was with ya up until "I'm perfectly happy losing a couple of games this year"... No one should ever be perfectly happy losing. I would not be surprised and would understand a few losses due to depth issues and less than a year to squeeze the Golden **** out of everyone. But a loss is a loss and no one will be happy. If we play an incredible game and lose to FSU by 1 point I'm still going to be ****ed. Tired of those ****ers.

I think it's still a successful season however, if we beat all the teams we SHOULD beat, and don't get blown out in any way that Golden seemed to do a few times every year, and win a game or two against a TOP 25 team.

Use that to polish off a good recruiting class and we should be a national title contender for the foreseeable future.

Yeah, I worded that wrong. Not happy to lose, but I'm taking the longterm view and I will consider the year successful if we do obvious things to move closer to a championship season in the future.

In my mind, that comes down to recruiting - we need to stack this team with talent and depth so we can go toe-to-toe with Alabama after a long season.

And in my mind, landing kids who are difference makers on the fence will come down to showing something on the field this year that we haven't done under Golden. Maybe we win 10 games. Maybe we don't but we do win the coastal and win a good bowl game. Maybe we beat FSU and ruin their season. Maybe we look young out there but the way we play looks like Miami aggression again and that creates a good buzz around the program.

Anything that gives us a shot in the arm with recruiting is a win I think because that's what we need

Break them down, then build them up. The only time that's a problem is when they don't build up, but get the praise anyway. That doesn't appear to be the case here though given the other people who've watched practice.

A great leader knows what buttons to push and when to push them. I don't know if Richt is a great leader, but he has determined that the team would benefit from him pumping them up a little right now.

does anyone else find it tempting . . . i know we're going to be better, but after these quotes, it seems like we could be special
I don't know if we are "special" just yet...but we should be significantly better with real coaches and I expect we will improve as the season progresses barring major injuries with a relatively thin squad. We stay healthy we could surprise a frw teams this year.

Don't disagree with this, pretty logical.

I keep hearing over and over that hes pleased with the team. To be honest not sure how to take it. Are we really playing that well? Or does he just have a history of consistently speaking positive about his teams, no matter what.

they had no problem keeping it real when they got here. What makes you think they would shovel snow now?

it's a big turn around from the remarks in spring, and that was just a few months ago . . .

I think Coach Richt sees a football team that he really likes. Depth isnt where it should be at several spots( we all know where) and UM is still probably a recruiting class or two away from being where they should be across the board. But Miami's front line talent is very good and more than enough to win big immediately in the ACC.

Health/injuries will be key but Richt doesn't strike me as BS'er.

IMO, if a couple of kids develop quickly and as well as we hope/think they can, this team - right now- can make some noise. They won 8 games with all that dysfunction last season for petes sake

Seems like the team is buying in, practicing hard, staying in shape, etc. I think that is what Richt is praising. That is all he can ask of them. The rest is up to him and his coaches to bring in better talent and develop.

this team has had its fair share of criticism the last 10 years...
even if it was the coaches fault...
they need a coach that knows how to properly build them up and motivate them
