Does anyone have a list of our football staff from 2000?

Someone mentioned Saban's assistants as performing well after leaving his staff. I don't think that is true. I don't think his tree is impressive at all.

I think its pretty good actually. Nick Saban's coaching tree has varying levels of success

Add in Smart recently to UGA and we will see how he does.

Wait a minute, how is it decided which coach comes from which tree? Smart started under Richt, and that article claims McIlwein under saban, but that is a stretch, in my book.

Actually he was under Saban at LSU back in 04.

Coaching career (HC unless noted)
1999 Georgia (AA)
2000 Valdosta State (DB)
2001 Valdosta State (DC)
2002–2003 Florida State (GA)
2004 LSU (DB)
2005 Georgia (RB)
2006 Miami Dolphins (S)
2007 Alabama (AHC/DB)
2008–2016 Alabama (DC)
2016–present Georgia

so you don't think mark dantonio, Jim mcelwain, jimbo fisher, jason Garrett, and josh McDaniels is impressive..

Again, when is it decided who's tree a coach comes from? You randomly pick some spot a dude was at to decide? To credit Saban with McElwain is borderline absurd. I mean, to credit Saban with McDaniels is hilarious, since he was a GA for one year at MSU.

Consistency please.

Agree with Chise and that's why I showed Smart's tree.

Dantonio's Tree
Coaching career (HC unless noted)
1980 Ohio (GA)
1981 Purdue (GA)
1982 Butler CC (DC)
1983–1984 Ohio State (GA)
1985 Akron (DB)
1986–1990 Youngstown State (DC)
1991–1994 Kansas (DB)
1995–2000 Michigan State (DB)
2001–2003 Ohio State (DC)
2004–2006 Cincinnati
2007–present Michigan State

He was with Tressel 6 years and Saban 5.

Not only was he with Tressel longer, but he was with him in his more formative years.

Wasnt it Bill Parcells that begat Bill Belichick, who begat Nick Saban...

Amazing staff.

To be fair though, many of those staffers became big when they left Miami or while on that team

It's an amazing staff as we sit here in 2016. It wasn't an amazing staff when Davis put it together. In fact, if this board was around back then, many posters (me included) would be killing those guys.

We have no idea right now how our current staff will develop. But it'll be interesting to see if Richt has put together a staff that will eventually gel and develop.

That's all we can do!!!
