Do you wish Richt hadn’t been presurred into retirement?

Blake James hired Diaz same day Richt retired. No search. No debate. Still paid his buyout. Wasn't fending off any other schools (1st time HC @ Temple). Signing day wasn't for another 5 weeks (already had EE locked in). No rhyme or reason to rush. Diaz wasn't going anywhere (solid fallback option) & yet, here we are. Amateur hour.

Anything more than 7 wins at temple for manure and Blake would have tripped over his own ****** to hurry up and hire another idiot temple coach

paid $4m and then temple spanked the same georgia tech team that had its way with us on the ground without paul johnson calling plays.

Richt retiring was the right thing to do. Replacing him with a member of his staff without interviewing any other candidates was the mistake.

Come to think of it. The time
To fly banners was when Richt retired. There should have been banners all over reading
“Anyone But Manny.” A lot of us knew he was the wrong guy. And you could just tell that Blake was going all in on this.

I wish we had a competent administration that never hired Shannon, Golden, Richt, or Diaz.

If we had people in charge who gave a **** about this program, and had any sense of what they were doing.....we wouldn't be having this conversation.

And to answer the original question, it doesn't matter. The version of Richt we got was the guy who was run out of town by Georgia. A guy on the clear downside of his career who got here with a foot out the door toward retirement. The results would maybe be one or two less losses...which would mean he'd be safer than where Diaz is now....so I say no. Of the two optionS I'm kinda glad Manny got the job cause he's easier to fire and maybe....just maybe.....this time around this will spur change where we need it the most, THE ADMINISTRATION OFFICE. This last horrible hire JUST MIGHT be what finally triggers change. If THAT happens, then that alone makes the Manny hiring worth it.
We paraded a guy that was run out of town by Georgia like we just won the championship. A man that was fired by someone we should be competing with nationally was our saving grace.

Miami's absolutely clueless.

It would have spared us from having Manny as head coach.

If Richt coRched it up this year (which he probably would have), we’d fire him. His replacement wouldn’t be Diaz, since Diaz would be such a disaster at Temple.
I’m glad he retired for his own health. He looked sick last year. He gave us a couple good seasons and a very good recruiting class in 2018

I wish UGA had not fired him. Then maybe we would be in Butch's fouth year with a couple good recruiting classes being under development. Once Mark was fired the writing was on the wall. He was safe hire and this was best school that was going to offer him. Our lazy administration was done thinking about a new coach as soon as the news he was fired hit the wire.

I'm sorry, but I wouldnt want to see any coach of ours have a heart attack on the sideline (Not even Mark D'nofrio) <---- and trust me I can't stand this guy as a coach or personally.

Remind me who Richt named as Defensive Coordinator after Manny’s departure.

Then answer the question again.

I mean, c’mon peeps. The amnesia on this board is stunning.
Bro I’m not saying I wish it happened to keep richt long term. I’m saying because we wouldnt stuck with manny and those same two buffoons still on staff that l were named co D coordinators.

Greg Schiano supposedly would have been the hire if Richt hadn’t been hired.

1. Soft players are 90% his fault
2. He would probably be dead
3. James would still have hired Diaz, buyout would actually have been less at the end of 2019.
4. James is protected from getting fired because people would say he was in a tough situation after Richts death.

Richt could’ve stuck around another year if he was willing to make wholesale changes to the coaching staff.

His heart wasn’t in it to fire his kid et al. He did the honorable thing and walked away. Respect

Given his recent health issue, I think he made the correct decision, but man...

I truly believe Richt was an OC away from doing something special here. He shot himself in the foot.

Nope. Wouldn't "wish for" trading one shytshow for another. No sane person would.
