Thoughts? I watched a video on Urban Meyer saying Florida players aren't being developed properly outside of the Lakeland and St Thomas type programs.
Only the recruits that we don’t sign.Thoughts? I watched a video on Urban Meyer saying Florida players aren't being developed properly outside of the Lakeland and St Thomas type programs.
No the rest of the Nation should stop recruiting the state. No good players here.
They all malnourished and have low football IQ.
You're on the right track. In GA, those big salaries go to HCs from maybe 10-12 programs in the state. Many of them have very little teaching responsibilities either. 2-3 weight training classes with mostly younger football players in one class and all the upperclassmen in another class. The real comparison is the rest of the schools. With rare exception, the teacher salaries are higher in GA and the cost of living is lower. My hats off to all the dudes that coach HS kids in SoFl. They do it for the love of the game and more importantly, the love of those kids. In the counties in GA I've worked in, our position coaches make more than HCs in SoFl and the cost to live here is much lower even in very safe areas. It's no surprise to me how many former SoFl coaches I run into up here citing they couldn't afford to raise their kids in SoFl. Nearly all these dudes are very good coaches. With better salaries here, most of the staffs are deep with coaching talent. The coaching is overall very good. I can't tell you if it's better than SoFl because I'm not down there. TX is the same as GA, but has many more programs that pay top $. I really wish the higher ups in FL education would pay teachers more $ and pour more $ into sports especially football and especially down in the State of Miami.HS coaches in GA and TX make 6 figures to just coach. There staff probably makes north of 50k each just to coach. The majority of coaches in Florida are teaches and get paid a 5000 stipend or something like that to be a HC. It’s less for a position coach. Let that sink in

Yeah and most of em don't have to teach social studies or geography. They just coach.HS coaches in GA and TX make 6 figures to just coach. There staff probably makes north of 50k each just to coach. I mean he's got a point. How many True Freshman player coming out of Florida have made a immediate impact for us?Let's fly this banner across the nation so they can leave all our "low IQ" players alone.

There was definitely talk about this when Urban made those comments. I know some people on the board have been critical of the STA coaching.
Generally, I recall posters saying that high school coaching in Georgia and Texas is much better on the average. They pay coaches a lot more and I think the facilities are also better on the average too. I think @Coach Macho spoke on it a little IIRC so maybe he can chime in as can @gogeta4 , @Tee3000 and others, all of whom I’m sure do a great job in a field deserving of respect at a minimum for their community service.
I’m sure that Florida overall has some good individual coaches too so I don’t want to say this applies to everyone. We have coaches on this board, like those I named, who know a shît ton more than I’ll ever know so I’ll leave it at that.
Is this true?HS coaches in GA and TX make 6 figures to just coach. There staff probably makes north of 50k each just to coach. The majority of coaches in Florida are teaches and get paid a 5000 stipend or something like that to be a HC. It’s less for a position coach. Let that sink in
Lol that’s what was expecting but he may have said it’s accurate because of the money paid to coaches as professionals elsewhere.I can already see @Coach Macho response.
"Florida hs coaches are the best developers of talent in the world. The NFL wishes they had coaches that could develop even close to the worst south Florida HS coaches."
Desantis just recently raised the minimum teachers' salaries in FL. I think to around $40k now.
