I'm getting more depressed each game because it is obvious someone is pointing out different problems each game: If it isn't just Rosier, then its Perry. If it isn't Searles then its the talent on the offensive line or the best players are too green or the lack of strength progress from them via Felder. If it isn't the playcalling then its the scheme. We have one of the most explosive wide receivers in college football in Thomas and his productivity is now nearly non-existent. We have players all over the roster (especially on offense) that most programs would love to have.
If there are so many problems then the problem is with the guy at the top. What we have are systemic problems that results in the head coach who in almost three years has been in charge of the coaching hires, their development, the players, their development, and the entire direction of the program.
I am willing to give him one more year (through next year) while keeping my expectations very low for a couple reasons:
1) I do think our best players (on paper) are the youngest guys on the team.
2) I do think despite our current class ranking (which will likely have more decommits) we have a lot of underrated good players coming in next year.
3) I think there will be pressure from powerful people (not just the fans) to change the direction of the offense after this year. If big media newspapers are currently writing about it then the pressure on him will grow. He has to reevaluate his staff. When he hired them all I remember thinking (and I'm sure many of you did, too) that there were too many green guys.
4) Jarren Williams still has not gotten his chance and I naively believe in him given our current senior does his best with no talent, Perry is absurdly immature, and Weldon is a borderline junkie. That said, it is embarrassing with so many *****-ups at qb that they don't have someone else committed in the current recruiting class.
5) Richt does look much older than his age. For everyone worried about him not being fired and lasting through his extension, I don't think, if this pressure continues from all over, that he would personally last past next year. The South Florida fans, media, boosters, etc. will wear him down even more. It will get a lot worse for him if he does nothing.
