Do We Pay Recruits To Visit?

I was reading about how this kid Samari Matthews surprised a lot of people by taking an official to Miami this weekend in lieu of going to Clemson. I assume this means we are paying the kid something to visit?

Not that I have any issue with paying kids to visit, but does anyone know how common this practice is? I'd also be curious how much kids are being paid to visit.

Up to $20K a month? JHC. So a May commit can pull in $140-160K while waiting to sign his LOI on ESD?

I guess not much different, maybe less, than some of the lump sum payments bag schools in the $EC were paying pre-NIL.
